Summer School Options for CAVA Students
Below are recommendations of summer programs. All questions regarding a summer program outside of CAVA should be directed to that summer school.
*If you are registering for summer school, please contact your Guidance Counselor or Freshman Support Specialist for assistance in choosing your summer school course. We want to ensure that the course is meeting the high school graduation requirement that you need to fulfill and/or a college entrance requirement.
1. For CAVA's Online Summer Program: Our summer school information will come in 2025.
Summer school options for Credit Recovery are typically available for students who have failed a course. These courses are not A-G approved. Your counselor can assign you up to four semesters of Credit Recovery courses.
There may possibly be a very small number of courses you can take for the first time to get ahead. Your counselor can only assign up to two semesters of these types of courses called Standard Courses. These are courses you’ve never taken before.
2. Other online school options with A-G approved courses:
CAVA will accept summer school courses from most accredited schools. If you are thinking of attending an accredited summer program that is not mentioned below, please email your Guidance Counselor or your Freshman Support Specialist for approval:
Mt. San Antonio Summer High School, Online- Registration coming in 2025: Free online summer school. The summer program has teachers and tutors available, and classes are A-G approved. Students can reside in any County to enroll.

For previously failed courses. Students can take up to two CR classes at a time. If a CR course is completed early in the summer, a student may enroll in a third or fourth CR course before the end of the summer term. Courses are self-paced but students should expect to work in their course for several hours every school day until the course is completed. Teachers will offer live class connect sessions but they are not required.
Standard Courses for Original Credit
Courses to get ahead in credits towards high school graduation. Traditional semester long courses with the work compacted into 5 weeks. Students may take up to 2 regular credit summer classes. Teachers will offer live optional class connect sessions.
