Updates

Week 6--5/4-5/8

Good morning. I hope everyone enjoyed the weekend.

This week we will be finishing our class novel. Please encourage your child to complete assignments by the directions given.

You can reach me through Remind or email should you have any questions or concerns.

We will have our Zoom meeting Thursday morning at 10:00.

Week 5--4/27-5/1

Good morning. I hope everyone was able to enjoy the weekend.

This week we will start off with a poetry passage from Readworks and continue with our class novel. Please encourage your child to complete assignments by the directions given.

It is very important for your child to be reading. This can be done by using online books or reaching out to Mrs. McQuaid to provide books from the library or reading books you have at home. The million word deadline is approaching. I would like to see as many as possible reach this goal.

You can reach me through Remind or email should you have any questions or concerns. I have had another death in my family and have been a little scatter over the past few days. If I have not answered a question you have asked, I will get back to you very soon.

We will have our Zoom meeting Thursday morning at 10:00.

Week 4--4/20-4/24

Good morning. I hope everyone had a nice spring break and was able to relax.

This week we will do a writing assignment and have a few assignments with our novel we were reading in class. As always, please encourage your child to complete their assignments and follow directions.

Please have your child read each day. Mrs. McQuaid can help with book check out or there are websites they can go to online to read.

If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact me. We will have our Zoom meeting at 10:00 on Thursday morning.

Mrs. McQuaid is working hard to ensure that your child has books to read from our library. Please read if you are interested in your child getting a book. They will be able to get a book through this process:

1. Find out if a parent or guardian can drive by the school. (The books will be in our GMS mailbox.)

2. Email Mrs. McQuaid the precise title and author that you want. She will email you if it’s available or not.

3. Stop by the school and check the grey mailbox. Please do not ring the buzzer. Books will have your name on it if available.

4. Return the books before May 1st to the file cabinets with “Mrs. McQuaid” taped on a piece of paper on outside of books.

Week 3--4/6-4/9

This week students will have 4 assignments. They will review the last few chapters in their novel with a Kahoot or Quizizz and then take a quiz. The other 2 assignments will be about the project. One will be a google form that will be their "presentation" information and the other will be actually showing me their project. This is way different than I have ever done teaching before, but we all have to adapt and be flexible during this time. Projects are always at home assignments, so the only difference is how they will be showing me their final product. Thank you for encouraging your children to do their assignments and stay as "normal" as possible. I know at my house, we keep our bedtime schedules and do tons of work each day. As always, please reach out to me if you have questions or concerns. You're doing a great job.

Week 2-3/30-4/3

This week students will listen to a chapter in the novel we have been reading in class. They will have 3 assignments that go along with the chapter. They will be due by Friday, April 3rd.

Assignments will be posted under the classwork tab on Google Classroom.

Students should be reading from their AR books DAILY and working on their project. AR tests CAN be taken from home. They access Renaissance the same way they would at school.

Week 1 March 23-27

Students should be completing one readworks assignment each day, reading from AR, and working on project. Students do have the capability to take AR tests from home. To take an AR test, students should log on just like they do from school. Contact me if you have questions about anything.
