English 1 - Making a Difference Project

Speaking: Presenting your Project

For this project, you are required to present your project. This means that you need to use your speaking skills and your voice to deliver the multimedia presentation you just created. Since you are taking this course virtually, we are presented with the challenge of HOW you can present (in other words, use those speaking skills) to an audience from the comfort of your own home. Below are voiceover options for presentation. Read each and then choose which you will use to complete and submit this project.

Record Audio in Google Slides

You can use the recording option embedded into Google Slides! This is the easiest and most encouraged option.

Voice Recorder

You can use the free voice recording service on voice recorder to give your project a voiceover! Don't forget to put the link to your recording either in your presentation OR in the Edgenuity submission box.

ScreenPal

ScreenPal is a free tool that you can download to record whatever is on your computer screen while you narrate. You have the option to use your webcam to include a small frame of yourself speaking or you can choose to just record your voice.

Checklist of Project Requirements

My presentation presents a problem created by a lack of unity.
- I explain what the problem is and show the negative effects of the problem.
- I suggest a solution to the problem and show the positive outcomes that the solution would create.
- I researched my topic and found three to four credible sources that discuss it.
- I used 4-5 slides to present my information.
I focus on the information that is most important to my topic.
I include quotations, key ideas, and supporting details from my sources on my slides. Unless quoting someone directly, I use my own words.
I include appropriate multimedia elements in my presentation.
I use captions, titles, and written explanations to connect the multimedia to my topic.
My presentation looks clean and organized. There is a good balance between text and images, and elements are an appropriate size and easy to see.
I used my voice in a voiceover or Screencast-o-matic video.
I checked grammar and spelling throughout the presentation.
I cited my sources correctly, using MLA format.
I added images or videos.
I placed the citations on the last slide of my presentation.
I practiced the presentation on my own and know what I will tell my audience at each point.
I thought about how to speak effectively as I give my presentation. I practiced using inflection, clear pronunciation and pacing as I spoke.
