Ideas for Using Pronto

Classroom Discussions

Whether on your mobile device or directly inside of Canvas, Pronto allows you to chat with classmates. Canvas integration each student is automatically connected with their classmates and teachers simply by logging into Pronto. Pronto’s real-time chat experience creates an engaging atmosphere that allows students to ask and answer each other’s questions, rather than having to rely on their teacher for everything. Student collaboration = student success.

Office Hours

Many students don’t have the time or are intimidated by the thought of meeting in person with their professors. Pronto allows for engaging 1:1 discussions or live video sessions between teacher and student. Whether it’s a quick question happening through chat, a file being shared, or a lengthy live streaming session taking place, Pronto provides an easy, convenient way for teachers and students to connect from wherever they are.

Study Groups

Whether a study group is created from within Canvas or natively within Pronto, groups can now collaborate from wherever they are. Because of our mobile-first approach, chat, file sharing, live streaming, and task creation/management are now at the fingertips of each student. Pronto also automatically syncs with any cloud account on your phone such as Google Drive, One Drive, and iCloud Drive. This makes sharing files back and forth super convenient

Group Projects 1:1

Many students use Pronto as a way to collaborate and engage with each other. Sharing files and group face-time sessions can occur with the tap of a button. If someone from the group isn’t available for the live group discussion, you can record the session so that person can go back and watch it later on.

Conversations

From anywhere within Pronto, if you tap on someone’s name, a profile card will pop up which allows you to enter a 1:1 conversation. This way, if the teacher notices in a classroom discussion that a particular student is struggling with a certain concept, rather than pointing that out in front of the class, simply tap on the student’s name and break out into a more intimate 1:1 environment.

Question Board

Who has ever been in a class where only one or two students are the only ones ask any questions? Is that because nobody else has anything interesting to say? It’s more likely because certain personality types don’t like being the center of attention. Many teachers instruct students to post questions in Pronto during or after lectures so as to allow anyone with thoughts, ideas, or questions to be heard.

Remote Guest Speakers

Pronto works from anywhere in the world where there’s an internet connection, so if you have a guest speaker who lives on the other end of the world, they could join the classroom in a live streaming session to provide their expertise on a certain topic. This session can be recorded for anyone not able to attend live.

Student Equity

One of Pronto’s most loved features is our ‘Instant Translate’ tool. This feature, when turned on, recognizes whatever language your phone settings are set to and will automatically translate any message, regardless of the language it was sent in, into your native language. One of the biggest reasons students from different language backgrounds drop out of school is because of the language barrier that exists. Pronto does a really great job at breaking those barriers down.

Verify Information is received

Through Pronto’s read receipts, you can now verify as soon as anyone sees your message. No more showing up to class and asking if students read your email only to find a bunch expressions staring back at you. With Pronto you can verify who has and who hasn’t seen messages, as well as how far they’ve read into the conversation.
