Cabot House supports groups who wish to group together in gender-inclusive suites.
Any groups who would like to live in a gender-inclusive suite are welcome to do so, and need not fill out any special paperwork. Anyone of any gender can live in a suite or single with no prior permission from the house, even if there is a connected door. You do not have to have a conversation with the Resident Dean nor the House administrator in order to live in a mixed-gender suite.
All members of all suites (whether mixed gender or not) are encouraged to discuss their levels of comfort living together as roommates. The specific issues that Cabot wants all students living in a suite to agree to are the ones outlined in the housing form:
I agree that if I vacate my suite after the lottery, Cabot House has the right to re-assign the room I have selected.
I have looked at the housing options, and I agree that, if placed in a suite, I am comfortable sharing a bathroom with the other members of my housing group.
I recognize that Cabot House strongly discourages members of a suite to date one another.
I recognize that it is my choice if I want to tell my parents or guardian about my living arrangements, if I believe they have concerns.
I agree that my decisions in this housing process are a reflection of my own housing needs/desires, and not those of outside parties.
I understand that of I change rooms after the end of the lottery without telling the House Administrator, I may incur disciplinary action (moving within a suite is fine).
