“When one door of happiness closes, another opens; but often we look so long at the closed door that we do not see the one which has been opened for us.” --Helen Keller (Cabot House class of 1904)
This site is designed to give information about the housing process for Cabot students who are confirmed to be on campus in the Spring 2021 term--you can look at the eligibility page if you have more questions. While there won't be a housing lottery to determine housing, Cabot is committed to a fair process for assigning rooms, using elements of the housing lottery. The goal is to have a housing process which maximizes student choice, fairness and flexibility under the constraints that we have.
The process for the students will look like this:
Students will be asked to complete a housing information form (Ideally, everyone who would like to select their housing in Spring 2021 should complete the form, but the House will accept 1 form from a group, as long as all members have confirmed housing). However, if a name that is not confirmed to receive housing ends up listed in a group, it will be removed from the group. The form will close on Jan. 4th, 5 p.m. ET.
The House Administrator will post a list of all participants in housing (and their group names) on Jan. 6.
The House Administrator will run all groups through a lottery script, to determine the order in which group housing will be assigned (housing preferences will be listed on the form), and will place students on a live spreadsheet on Jan. 7th, starting 3 p.m. ET.
Wish letters will be open to all students from Jan. 7-10. Responses will be given up through the 11th/12th, with housing finalized on the 13th.
On Jan. 13th, assignments will be final, and will be entered as your housing assignment.
