E-Safety

Welcome

Online technologies have the capacity to enrich the learning of our pupils and transform approaches to teaching. As our use of such technologies increases, so too does the need for E-Safety awareness. This website aims to provide you with an easily accessible source of information and guidance which will enable you and your daughter to utilise online technologies while staying safe.

Glenlola Collegiate School’s Policy on E-Safety

As part of our commitment to ensuring safe and responsible use of the Internet and associated technologies, the School ensures each pupil is provided with a broad range of advice and training in net etiquette, how to keep safe and behave appropriately whilst online, how to report concerns that arise and how to prevent computer viruses, malware and associated programs from infecting their home computers. Specific advice is given on how to manage social networking controls, respond to unsolicited approaches from strangers on the Internet and general Internet safety. E-Safety training takes place during KS3 ICT lessons and KS3 Personal Development (PD) lessons. Pupils also take part in E-Safety training as part of the KS4 Personal Development program. In addition, there is an annual planned programme of activities relating to e-safety, e.g. The Cybersecurity Programme (Developed by the NI Cybersecurity Centre and the PSNI), targeted assemblies, involvement in National Internet Safety Week and guest speakers.

The purpose of this E-Safety website is to, “Educate children and young people, their parents and those who work with them to make best use of the educational, social and economic benefits of the online world, while staying safe from potential harm online.”
