Description: This qualification is designed for learners who are interested in an introduction to the study of creating IT systems to manage and share information, alongside other fields of study, with a view to progressing to a wide range of higher education courses, not necessarily in IT.
The objective of this qualification is to give learners the opportunity to develop their knowledge and skills in data management and social media in business. This will enable learners to progress to further study in the IT sector, or other sectors. Learners will study two mandatory units:
• Unit 2: Creating Systems to Manage Information (synoptic)
• Unit 3: Using Social Media in Business. This will allow progression to a variety of degrees when combined with other suitable Level 3 qualifications.
Description: This course is for students interested in current and emerging technologies, the impact they have and how to use them effectively. This qualification is likely to appeal to all, but it might particularly interest those who enjoyed studying digital technology, mathematics, sciences or technology and design at GCSE. New technologies, networks and services are transforming the way we communicate with each other, how we work and the way we learn. GCE Digital Technology gives students opportunities to develop advanced skills in a range of development environments and apply these to relevant work-related scenarios. Students will also acquire other skills valued in further and higher education, as well as in the workplace; these include research, investigation, analysis, communication skills, problem solving and working with others.
Description: Interactive media is an exciting, constantly-expanding area. The sector spans a broad range of activities across television, interactive media, publishing, photo-imaging, animation, advertising and marketing. You will learn the basics of camera operation, digital video editing, and interview and presentation techniques.
Description: This course is for students who have a strong interest in the science of Computers and in coding. This course helps students understand the core academic principles of computer science. Classroom learning is transferred into creating real-world systems through the creation of an independent programming project. This A Level will develop the student’s technical understanding and their ability to analyse and solve problems using computational thinking. Computer Science is a practical subject where students can apply the academic principles learned in the classroom to real-world systems. It’s an intensely creative subject that combines invention and excitement, and can look at the natural world through a digital prism.
The aims of this qualification are to enable learners to develop:
An understanding and ability to apply the fundamental principles and concepts of computer science, including: abstraction, decomposition, logic, algorithms and data representation
The ability to analyse problems in computational terms through practical experience of solving such problems, including writing programs to do so, the capacity to think creatively, innovatively, analytically, logically and critically.
