Reading Curriculum Information
Our reading curriculum is called Open Court Reading. Thankfully, a lot of this material is available online for us to use! Please log in to your child's account to:
Read Decodable Books: Your child can read their Decodable books online. The website reads the books aloud while highlighting the words, which helps improve their reading fluency. If they read their Decodable books three times or more during the week, it will help build their reading skills!
Read the Textbook: Students can also access their textbook online. They will have weekly tests that can be challenging if they haven't reviewed the book at home along with what we cover in class. Please read this book with your child to help build their understanding.
Weekly Decodable: Each week, students will bring home a Decodable book that matches our lessons. You can read this at home together.
Spelling Words: Students will also receive spelling words to study at home.
Our reading instruction includes many different activities. Students will participate in small groups, whole group lessons, and independent reading.
While we provide reading instruction, it is very important for your child to read with you every night. This practice improves their fluency, comprehension, and vocabulary. Consistency is key—reading every night gives your child more opportunities to engage with text, making them stronger readers.
Math Curriculum Information
Math Curriculum Information
Our math curriculum is called HMH Into Math. This program is taught in units, so homework will be assigned based on each topic covered in class.
Homework: Students will receive homework that matches the topic we are studying.
Multiplication Facts: In addition to regular homework, students will also work on multiplication facts to challenge themselves.
Class Time: Students will have time in class to work on their homework packets. They can take the packets home to finish any work that wasn’t completed in class or to have a guardian check their work.
