Students will usually have homework on most school nights.
Homework and important papers will come home in your child’s green folder.
Please check this folder every night to make sure all assignments are finished.
After reviewing their homework, please sign the designated section.
Students are responsible for placing their completed homework in the homework box in our classroom.
At the start of the year, we will practice this routine daily. Students also receive reminders in homeroom to turn in homework and choose lunch.
Homework is checked for completion only. It is not graded.
Students usually receive math homework most nights.
Many days, they will have time to start their homework in class. Unfinished work should be completed at home.
Both the Homework Sheet and Fact Practice Sheet are due the next day. Please complete both sides.
Please check your child’s homework nightly.
Students do not need to be timed. Knowing math facts is important, but speed is not required.
Students are expected to read for 20 minutes every night.
If your child does not have a book, they may log in to the Open Court website to read the class story or decodable books.
An optional monthly reading log will be sent home at the beginning of each month.
If returned signed on the last school day of the month, students will earn a treasure.
Spelling words are given in reading class.
Spelling tests are every Monday.
The word list for the following week and practice sheets will be sent home on Mondays.
i-Ready is optional at home.
To access i-Ready, go to Clever.com and use your child’s DCSD login (white Clever badge).
Students complete many assignments during the school day.
If work is unfinished, it becomes homework and is due the next day.
Students are responsible for turning in their work without reminders.
Missing work may receive a zero.
Due dates for larger projects will be announced, and information will be sent home.
Please encourage your child to complete assignments on time.
To check your child’s progress, log in to Infinite Campus (Parent Portal).
Checking regularly helps ensure that work is completed and turned in.
Missing or incomplete assignments may result in no credit.
We want to avoid stress at the end of each quarter from unfinished work.
Learning about due dates and responsibility helps students succeed and reach high goals.
