Including: Registration Requirements, Registering New Students, Kindergarten/Preschool Registration

Registration Requirements

Parents must present:

1. Birth Certificate 18A-38.5

2. Proof of immunization (in accordance with the provisions

of Chapter 14 of the State Sanitary Code.)

DIPHTHERIA PERTUSSIS TETANUS (DPT) – A minimum of 4 doses, the latest dose must have been administered on or after the 4th birthday.
POLIO VIRUS VACCINE - A minimum of 3 doses of oral polio vaccine is required, provided one dose is given on or after the 4th birthday.
MEASLES, MUMPS, RUBELLA (MMR) - Two doses of MMR vaccine, given after the first birthday, are required of all children born on or after January 1, 1990. The two doses must be separated by an interval of at least one-month (28 days). Documented laboratory evidence of measles, mumps, rubella immunity is acceptable.
HEPATITIS B VACCINE - All students entering kindergarten must have had the series of 3 immunizations.
VARICELLA CHICKENPOX VACCINE - All students entering kindergarten are required to have received one dose of the varicella vaccine.

STATE LAW REQUIRES- A current physical and proof of immunizations for preschool and kindergarten entrance. Your child will be excluded from school until the necessary documentation is received. 3. Transfer Card or letter from Principal of previous school

indicating grade level.

4. All registrants must produce verification of the fact that the family is permanently domiciled in Byram Township via the below as appropriate:

Copy of occupancy permit
Letter from landlord stating the date rental began and will terminate
Copy of sales agreement stating date the family permanently occupied house/apartment

Current tax bill.

Registration of New Students

Students who are new to the district are registered in school offices according to the following schedule:

Registration for K-4 only in the Byram Lakes Elementary School (347-1047 ext. 2400).
Registration for 5-8 only in the main office of the Intermediate School (347-1047 ext. 2100).
Registration for a family who have children in more than one grade level can take place in either school.

Kindergarten Handbook

Early registration for new kindergarten students is held in January each year. Kindergarten Handbooks will be distributed at the Kindergarten screening. Handbooks are distributed from then on at the time a new kindergarten student is registered.

Kindergarten/Preschool Registration

Registration of kindergarten/preschool students in the Byram Township School will be held in the Winter of the school year. Only children who have attained the age of five years on or before October 1 may be enrolled for kindergarten. Students who turn 3 or 4 years old by October 1 of that year may be enrolled in Preschool.

Kindergarten Screening

All new kindergarten students are screened in May prior to their September start of school. All kindergarten registrations subsequent to May are screened during the third week of September. This screening is utilized in the regular classroom as a means of identifying the strengths and weaknesses of all children as the first step in program and curriculum development. Kindergarten Handbooks are distributed at this time.
