BVSD Library Services and CU Science Discovery are partnering to provide MS/HS teacher librarians with a storytelling through making experience via the Build A Better Book Professional Learning Pathway (8.9 & 9.17).
MS/HS Teacher Librarians are encouraged to partner with a classroom teacher to attend this workshop and experience the power of literacy and maker-centered learning together!
Bring a book to life! Learn how to merge storytelling with art, tech, STEM, and literacy to create experiential, multimodal books, graphics and games that can be seen, touched, and heard. Through the context of storytelling, you will explore literacy-based maker tools including Makey Makey, paper circuits, Scratch, 3D printing, robotics (Dash), and other tools.
By the end of this course, you will learn how to:
- Merge literacy with making;
- Engage students in creative problem solving and design;
- Develop real-world learning challenges.
