Meadowlark's Curiosity Center

The January TL Workshop was held at Meadowlark Pk-8 and hosted by Marnie Steele, Meadowlark's TL and Curiosity Coach. Marnie shared an overview of the Curiosity Center layout and collection which is 100% genrefied. Matt Duncan, Senior Manager from Sphero led a hands-on session that tied Sphero to specific content areas. Matt also showed us how to find grade level aligned lessons and activities on the Sphero Edu site by using the Filter feature under Activities (see image below for instructions).

There was a lot of conversation about Meadowlark's genrefication system and many expressed interest in learning more about how to genrify their collections. Based on this interest we have arranged for a Genrefication Tour on 2.2.18. The tour will visit libraries that have genrefied or are in the process of genrefying their collections including Flagstaff Academy Pk-8 (SVSD), Centennial MS (BVSD), and Kohl Elem (BVSD). We will conclude the day at IT/Ed Tech offices to reflect and discuss what we observed, review Insignia genre features, and options for implementing a genrefied system.
