January TL Workshop

Thank you Regina H. for hosting our Tuesday, Jan. 10 TL Workshop. Regina walked us through SHMS' journey to renovate their library and create a more open, flexible, and collaborative space that will help SHMS achieve their Innovation Plan learning outcomes. Regina shared a number of resources with us including:

In addition to hearing from Regina and touring the new space, Sheena Kelly, MS/HS TL at Peak to Peak, led a session on Getting Things Done! While other attendees played with SHMS' new green screen production rooms, experimenting with Do Ink and WeVideo.

There will be an after school WeVideo training on January 30 at Whittier starting at 3:30 PM. Training will be led by Shauna Polson, Ed Tech Specialist, and it's open to any TL that would like to join Whittier staff to learn more specifics about WeVideo. All TLs received an Google Calendar invite.

February 2 | 4 PM : Embrace Your Inner Weeder! Join us for a conversation with Bobbi Craig of Mackin about the collection development cycle with a focus on books per student guidance and weeding. Bobbi will review national and state trends in collection development, with an emphasis on building a relevant collection for your student population, and tackle how to weed, refresh and rejuvenate your collection and library space to meet the needs of tomorrow’s students. February 27 | 4 PM: Lessons Learned Panel Discussion featuring Regina Hoskins, Retta Kelly, Loran Lattes, John Shortridge, and Becky Vancura. Don't reinvent the wheel as you prepare to move and or remodel your library spaces as your school implements their Innovation Plan and or Bond work. This is an opportunity for you to ask questions and deep dive the nuts and bolts of the process--warts and all--from those that have taken this journey.

All TLs will receive a Google Calendar invite to these sessions that will include a link to join the YouTube Live event.

Driving home while LIBinar is happening, no problem. You can access the event link on your phone and listen to the event.

Inventory & Weeding Reminder

Exemplar schools should complete inventory and resulting weeding activities prior to Spring Break so deselected library materials can be picked up over Spring Break by the warehouse. Please review the discarded materials workflow for specifics on this process.

Phase 2 school libraries that will be undergoing construction this summer should complete an inventory and weeding before Spring Break, if at all possible. The warehouse will have a significant amount of materials coming in at the end of the school year and anything we can do to process deselected library materials and get them to the warehouse before the end of May will help immensely.
