For these portraits studnets were inspired by Kehinde Wiley work. Wiley is know for creating heroic portraits of young black men and women and placing them in paintings styled like well known oil paintings, scupltures, or stainglass that typically only represented white people. Students chose someone they thought should be honored with a portrait and used symbols to represent their connection with that person. Students use Adobe Photoshop tools on Creative Commons photos to create these masterpices and wrote essays to explain their connection and the importance of the work.Â
