In Digital Art students create personal art pieces combining the elements of art with the influence of important current and historical artists. They use our new Mac Apple lab and Adobe Photoshop to build and hone their creative and technological skills. It's a great chance for students to jumpstart a career in digital media.
Students take a journey of self-expression while they learn the tools professional graphic designers use today. They start with a personal project, Mandala, focusing on personal interests with which they are very familiar. Over the course of the semester, they learn additional tools sometimes will smaller projects with cultural significance like the Papel Picado or Sugar Skulls. Later, they move to projects like the Crosshatch portrait which require more skill, but more importantly require an advanced level of self-reflection before they can create a piece that fully expresses a deeper personal meaning.
All the works of art found on this website are student pieces created by 6th, 7th, and 8th graders who in large part had no previous experience with Adobe Photoshop.
