After visiting the Whitney Museum of American Art and viewing Andy Warhol's Ethel Scull 36 Times in person, Ms. Fuqua returned to class eager to share that experience and the idea that inspiration can travel from museums into one's own creative spaces. Our eighth-grade digital art students embraced the challenge of creating a modern interpretation of Warhol's iconic work. They photographed every eighth grader, capturing their unique personalities. Next, they applied Pop Art effects in Adobe Photoshop, designed the final composition, and printed the finished piece using our new large-format printer purchased with Wolf Call funds. Completed at the end of the semester, this project highlights not only the advanced technical skills our students developed but also their initiative, collaboration, and understanding that digital art is a powerful and meaningful form of artistic expression.
