PRESCHOOL

Dear Preschool Families,

Welcome to a new school year at Big Valley Christian School! We are so grateful that you’ve entrusted us with these early and foundational years of your child’s journey. At BVCS, our preschool program is designed to be a joyful, nurturing environment where little hearts and minds are introduced to the wonder of learning and the love of Jesus. As your child explores, grows, and forms their very first school memories, our team is here to partner with you in laying a Christ-centered foundation—one filled with curiosity, kindness, and purpose. We’re excited for the year ahead and all God will do in the lives of our youngest Lions!

Here are some details to help you start the year!

Drop Off Procedure

The drop-off procedure is fairly simple.  You can enter through the north entrance by the elementary gate or the south entrance next to the Tully Road parking lot.  You can bring children in as early as 7:30 AM at the north entrance for early drop off or at either entrance at 8:20 AM. 

Sign In Procedure

Near the classroom doors are rectangular-shaped tables with white sign-in & out binders. These binders have pages for each student in alphabetical order.  There are dates along the side of the pages, and we ask that you note the date, time of drop off, and your signature.  When you pick up your child, we ask you to note the time and give your signature to verify that you are picking up your child.  If you have authorized someone else to pick up your child, please let the teacher know, and let the person picking up know to be prepared to show their ID.

Transition

It can be a bit challenging the first few days as children adjust to the drop-off routine.  We ask that you make your goodbyes short.  We have seen from the past that the longer the drop-off takes, the more difficult it is on the child. Feel free to reach out to teachers to help with this.  3 to 5 minutes is a reasonable time frame to connect with the teacher and reassure your child that they will have a great day. We ask that you do your best to do this at the classroom door. 

We also encourage you to get your child excited about coming to school, where they will get to sing songs, hear stories, play with new toys, meet friends, and play out on the playground.  They will feed off of your excitement, so talk it up this next week to prepare them.

Afternoon care  

If your child will be staying after 12:30 PM, you have 2 choices.  You may choose lunch, followed by nap time until 2:45 PM, or our activity room for non-nappers. We will have you fill out a form to let us know what your choice is.

Communication 

We do our best to keep in clear communication with our parents.  We have the school calendar & Important dates sheet that can be seen at BVCS.com website.  We post on easel boards.  We also have memos that are put in your child's file folder, which is on the sign-in & out table. The teachers will ask you to sign up for their class DoJo app, which allows them to reach out to you personally as well. Emails & phone calls are sent, and we welcome emails & phone calls from you too.

It will all fall into place as we begin an exciting year of pouring the love of Jesus into your child, and working on preschool skills in fun ways to prepare them to succeed and establish a love of learning.

CLASSROOM BREAKDOWNS:

TK1  - These students must enroll in the 5 day program and turn 5 ideally by 2/12/26 (younger children will be considered). This program includes Music, P.E. & STREAM.

TK2 - Children who will be 4 years old by 9/1/25 and are looking for 2, 3 or 5 days.

PK3 - Children who are 2 years 9 months by 8/1/25 potty trained and looking for 2, 3 or 5 days. 

PRESCHOOL OPENINGS...

We still have a few openings in the preschool!  Let your friends and family know and encourage them to call and set up a tour with us.  They can call 209-527-3481 or email me directly at sheilay@bvcs.org.  We have little lions for each child that tours.
