Dear Elementary Families,
Welcome to another exciting year at Big Valley Christian School! The elementary years are such a vital time of growth—in academics, character, and faith—and we’re honored to walk alongside your family through each milestone. At BVCS, we are committed to cultivating curious minds, compassionate hearts, and Christ-centered confidence in every student. This year, your child will be challenged academically, supported relationally, and nurtured spiritually as we partner with you to lay a strong foundation for life and learning. We can’t wait to see how God moves in and through our elementary Lions this year!
Here are some details to help you start the year!
Class Placements: You will be receiving an email from your child’s new teacher on Friday, August 8, 2025 letting you know your student’s class placement before the first day of school. Sixth graders may come into the office on Monday, August 11, from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. to receive their schedules with their locker numbers and combinations so they can practice opening their lockers. Please call the office if you have not received an email from your child’s teacher.
At this very exciting and busy time of year, our teachers will be in meetings and working hard to set up their classrooms and therefore will not be available to meet with you before school starts. However, we are anticipating getting the year off to a fantastic start on Tuesday, August 12 as we all meet together for our first Unity at 8:25 a.m. at the Elementary Playground. Additionally, you will have a chance to get to know your child’s teacher at Back to School Night on Thursday, August 21, starting at 6:30 p.m.
Kindergarten “Meet and Greet”: Kindergarten teachers will be working hard to set up their rooms on Monday, August 11, but if you and your child would like to pop-in for a short “meet and greet” moment (take a picture, meet the teacher and see the classroom), you can stop in on Monday, August 11 from 10:00 - 11:00 a.m. or from 1:00 - 2:00 p.m.
K-6 Grade First Day: The first day of school for all K-6 grade students will begin with Unity at 8:25 a.m. on Tuesday, August 12 at the Elementary Playground. The North lot gate, the gate on the southside breezeway, and the gate by the ARC will be open to allow families to park in all 3 parking lots. K-6 grade students will meet their teachers at the Elementary Playground. Each teacher’s class will be marked with a sign so your child will know where to line up. We will enjoy a brief time of welcome and dedication together as we begin our new school year. Teachers will then walk their new classes off to begin a much-anticipated and memorable first day. Please prepare your child that pictures and waving goodbye will happen from the Elementary Playground since parents do not go with their children to class.
Supply Lists: 2025-26 Class Supply Lists can be found at www.bvcs.org/resources/.
Drop-Off and Pick-Up: Our most up-to-date drop-off/pick-up information:
Kindergarten students: Beginning on the second day of school, please park and walk all kindergarten students to the kindergarten yard for morning drop-off. Kindergarten students can be picked up from the courtyard near the flagpole at 12:30 p.m. Kinder students staying for Afternoon Care can be picked up in the kindergarten playground or can be picked up in the drive-thru pick-up. First-sixth grade students: Beginning on the second day of school, students can be dropped off in the drive-thru line or you may park in the North Parking Lot and walk your student into the courtyard. The first 4 days of school will be classroom pick up only, unless your child attends X-Care. Starting Monday, 8/18/24 you can pick up from location #1 or #2 (see below). This must be communicated to your student's teacher with the enclosed form.
Please return the included form to your child’s teacher.
Pick-Up Location #1 (Park and walk in):
Parents who choose to park and walk in to pick up their child(ren) will meet their child(ren) in the courtyard by the flagpole. For this option, we anticipate the best location to park is in the North Parking Lot. Students who are not picked up by 3:15 p.m. will be walked over to X-care.
Pick-up Location #2 (Drive-thru pick up):
This location is for those parents who wish to remain in their car while picking up their child(ren). To utilize this pick-up location, please drive down the canal entrance off of Tully Road. Only the students on the pick-up list will be brought out to the East Lot for the drive-thru pick-up option. Students who are not picked up by 3:10 p.m. will be walked over to X-care.
Lunch Program: Please have your child bring their snack, lunch, and water bottle daily. Please be sure their name is on their lunch and water bottle. Food delivery by outside vendors is no longer an option. We may be piloting My Hot Lunchbox this year (further information to come).
Lost and Found: The lost and found closet is located across from the elementary school office and is accessible before, during, and after school. Please label all your child’s belongings so that we can return them to your child easily and quickly.
I have prayed for you this summer and count it a privilege to partner with you and your family as we journey through this year together with the Lord’s faithful love and guidance.
Thank you for your partnership,
Kris Giannosa
