Our goal with this part of the Friday @ 5:00 is to give you, as the parent(s), resources to have conversations about Jesus, with your family.
This week in Chapel we read Matthew 2:1-12 and talked about Jesus being the center of our lives. Our entire school gathered for All-School Christmas Chapel and we looked at the Wise Men as they traveled from the East to come see Jesus, following a star. The Wise Men encountered King Herod when they arrived in Jerusalem. King Herod wanted to be king and he was willing to do anything to keep it. The Wise Men were seeking Jesus and they were willing to ask for help to find Him. The Wise Men wanted Jesus to be their King more than anyone else. Herod wanted to be king and was willing to remove anyone else.
Over this Christmas break, take time as a family to focus on Jesus and the celebration of His birth. Remind each other what it means for humanity for all time that Jesus came to the earth and was born, of a virgin, fully God and fully Man. Set aside time on Christmas Eve or Christmas morning, to ask each other, do we want to be like the Wise Men, who wanted Jesus as their king? Or do we want to be like Herod, who wanted himself to be king?Â
We pray that each one of you and your families have a wonderful Christmas break and we cannot wait to see you again for Chapel on Friday January 9th!
