Services
We can't stress this point enough. Our role is to support students, staff, and families. We're not here to judge or evaluate your performance. We're here to provide resources and strategies to help students be more successful, help teachers feel effective and valued, and parents feel we are doing the best we can for their child. Below is a list of services we are happy to provide.
BV SELS Services
Student Observations - We can schedule times for me to come in and observe student behaviors of concern. Ideally, we would like to observe a student 3 times before we develop a behavior intervention plan.
Strategic Collaboration for Addressing Behavior Concerns Both In and Out of the Classroom - Once a student is identified as needing assistance, the referring staff member(s) and the SEL coordinator will collaborate to come up with the best plan to address student needs. This may also include assigning a PBIS Tier 2 team member as a case manager.
Sensory Resets for Students - Our offices are fully equipped with items to address different sensory needs. These items can be assigned to a student to use in the classroom, or they can come to o our offices to have a reset when needed.
Trauma Informed Library Access for Specific Needs - Our trauma informed library is in its infancy, but we do have books for all ages addressing different aspects of trauma. If you have a student who has experienced trauma, let us know, and we can try to find some literature that can help them process it, and can help classmates develop empathy.
Big Buddy Program - We're so excited for the opportunity to expand our Big Buddy Program. In the past, we've utilized Big Buddies on a very limited basis with great outcomes. The basic premise is to assign younger students who are struggling with older students who can provide friendship and mentorship.
Calming and Mindfulness Resources for all Classrooms - We have collected many resources to help address the need for mindfulness and calming strategies. We can work together to figure out what is needed at which times.
Special Guest Lectures -We would love to join your classroom and deliver instruction to address Social Emotional Learning. We have lots of curriculum to address specific needs. Let's set something up! You can access the available lessons we have for elementary & middle school at the bottom of this page.
Restorative Practices - We would love to bring restorative practices into your classroom. Maybe you're already utilizing RP, maybe you've never heard of it. We're happy to meet you where you are.
Data Tracking of Students Assigned Case Management - If you have a student who's been referred for additional support, we will track their progress and meet with you to see what's working, what's not, and if target behaviors need to be adjusted as things progress.
