The department commits to support implementation of the following institutional strategic objectives within the financial year 2025/26
1. To implement targeted outreach and support initiatives to attract, enroll, and retain trainees from underrepresented and diverse backgrounds, ensuring equitable access and success for all.
2. To foster and solidify strategic alliances with industry leaders and organizations to enhance collaborative opportunities, improve training programs, and facilitate workforce development.
3. To implement comprehensive governance reforms and best practices to improve transparency, accountability, and decision-making processes within the institution; and
4. To establish robust support systems and funding mechanisms to encourage and sustain innovative research and development activities within the institution.
The department intends to put all its efforts towards contributing effectively and efficiently to the achievement of the national development agenda as espoused in the Kenya Vision 2030 MTP IV, Bottom-up Economic Transformation Agenda (BETA), keeping in mind the specific priorities of the Butere Technical Training Institute.
The contributions of the Department towards the implementation of the institutional Performance Contract signed between its Board of Governors and the Cabinet Secretary Ministry of Education in the Financial Year 2025/26 include:
RECOGNITION OF PRIOR LEARNING (RPL)
The department shall participate in one Capacity building workshop for teaching staff on RPL by June 2026
The department commits to enroll and assess at least 5 candidates in RPL this financial Year by June 2026.
PRODUCTIVITY INDEX IMPROVEMENT
The department commits to measuring the efficiency and effectiveness of its resource utilization in converting inputs into quality outputs by contributing to improving the institutional productivity index from 3.3 to 3.5 by June 2026.
TRAINEE COMPLETION RATE
The department commits to ensure trainees enrolled in various modules complete within the prescribed timelines from the current 80% to 85% by ensuring Vulnerable trainees within the academic department are identified, enhance Parental/ Sponsor linkage and implement Departmental trainee support initiatives.
TRAINEE MENTORSHIP SERVICES
The department aims to enhance trainee mentorship by reserving at least 39 slots for its trainees in the targeted 278 CBET trainees to be placed on career mentorship program by the Office of Career Services by June 2026.
SCIENCE, TECHNOLOGY AND INNOVATION MAINSTREAMING
The department commits to establish at least 1 RSTI collaboration/partnership to facilitate transfer of innovation and technology by June 2026.
COMPETENCE BASED EDUCATION AND TRAINING ENHANCEMENT
The department commits to capacity its staff and at least 100 trainees on E-Portfolio and ensure implementation of the same by June 2026.
ONLINE AND DISTANCE LEARNING (ODEL)
The department commits to sensitize her staff on digital content development standards and upload at least 4 common units in its LMS.
At least 50 trainees shall be enrolled into the LMS.
