Welcome to Barstow High School's CTE Department
Computer Science Discoveries is a hands-on exploratory class that introduces students to various careers in today's world of computers. We learn how to make apps for phones and tablets. We learn how to make a robot drive and communicate through its outputs. We learn how to make a website using HTML and CSS. We build our own computer games. We learn how to use data to solve problems. It is a super fun class.
Designed for 9-12 grade students, Computer Science Principles introduces students to the foundational concepts of computer science and challenges them to explore how computing and technology can impact the world. The curriculum is flexible to be taught as a normal course or as an AP course. CS Principles complements CS Discoveries with a deeper focus on concepts such as how the internet works and the societal impacts of computer science. The course works for beginners and students with experience in our other courses.
Computing and Robotics
Although this course is still getting board approved, we hope to have it available for the 2021-22 school year. More information will be here in the future.
