Character Trope List

Character tropes are essentially stereotypes or patterns found in any creative writing. I know I said don't write stereotypes and don't, but these are the basic roles found in lots of books, movies, or even shows! They don't have to specifically have a specific type of personality, but change it up so the characters have more depth to them other than they are a hot bad boy (low-key my favorite character trope). So, have fun with these!

Adventurer (adventure filled character) - AI/Robot (non-human character with artificial intelligence) - Alien (character from another world or species) - Animal companion (the loyal sidekick of the hero) - Antihero (flawed antagonist)

Bad Boy (character who contains an edgy, rebellious or even dangerous persona) - Brute (character who physically looks aggressive and imposing) - Bully (character who has is agressing and domineering, using intimidation or physical strength to gain control)

Charmer (the magnetic character) - Chosen One (character with a certain destiny or power, usually the hero) - Clown (character known for humor and book relief) - Comedic duo (two characters who provide story relief and plays with each others personalities) - Conspiracy theorist (character who thinks up unfound conspiracies) - Copycat (character who imitates others just to annoy them or for their own personal gain) - Coward (jumpy and chicken character) - Cryptid Hunter (character dedicated to proving that musical creatures are real) - Curmudgeon (character who is irritable and grumpy) - Cyborg (characyer with technology attachments)

Damsel in Distress (character needing rescue) - Dark Lord (character wo is powerful and malevolent and they seek to conquer, coltro, or destroy the world) - Deceiver (character who specilizes in disguise and manipulation) - Detective (character skilled in solving mysteries) - Doomsayer (character who predicts the end of the world) - Dreamer (character filled with ambitious and unreachable dreams or goals)
