Zombie infection stages, the stages in which a perfectly healthy human being is turned into a zombie. These stages are not perfect, and you are welcome to twist and change them in any way you like!
Stage 0 = Exposure
So, the human gets bitten, scratched, or in contact with an infected liquid. There are no symptoms right away, but right now, the infection is entering the bloodstream and is replicating rapidly.
Stage 1 = Infection Settles In
1-12 hours after the infection enters the bloodstream, symptoms show up on the person. Symptoms such as fever, chills, muscle spasms, headache, nausea, confusion, and increased aggression. The victim is still conscious though, but the virus or infection or parasite is now attacking the brain and nervous system.
Stage 2 = Cognitive Decline
12-24 hours after getting bitten (can be different depending on the strain), the victim is starting to act more like a zombie. They are having loss of speech, slurred movements, and severe pain and bleeding from the eyes, nose, and mouth. The victim may lash out or wander around, confused as the higher brain function is shutting down.
Stage 3 = Death
24-48 hours after infection, the person is dying. They could have lost consciousness, the heart stopped, and their breathing reduced. The victim seems to be dead, limp, pale, and cold. This is when the virus officially finishes hijacking the brain.
Reincarnation
From 1 minute to hours after death. The victim rises from the dead, usually with no memory or humanity. The newly turned zombie is now seeking to bite, kill, and eat. It is now drawn to noise, movement, or scent of living food. They look pale, have bloodshot eyes or cloudy pupils, and have still movement in the beginning. The body is now only functioning on primal instinct, the brainstem and motor functions hijacked by the virus
