Contract
Pros: 1) 20 days of PTO and 10 sick, 2) is a 2 year contract, 3) pays membership dues of professional organizations, covers the cost of long term disability.
Cons: 1) Does not pay out for unused PTO days
Job Description
Pros: 1) It is clear and concise. 2) It is laid out easy to comprehend. 3) It does match the evaluation tool.
Cons: 1) It is not inclusive of all the duties and requirements of the job. 2) It needs updated to match the standard of 2024.
Evaluation Tool
Pros: 1) Evaluation presentation is done with the entire board. 2) It is all done in house, there is no outside help.
Cons: 1) The scale is only 1, 2, 3 wishes it was a 5 point scale. 2) After two years you only get feedback once a year.
3) It is needing to be looked at and revamped to fit the job in the year 2024 and beyond.
This was used when our old Superintendent left and our new one started in 2022. It was a plan to ease into the job.
The following are some examples of entry plans I found through research online. It was hard to find any from Nebraska.
Here are some examples of professional goals and/or school board goals. Burwell's are not as formal as these but there is a clear plan each year formed by the board and the superitendent of what needs to be improved and or looked at. There is not a formal document but there is a formal conversation and then there is a meeting with the principals as well.
