J-100 SCHOLARSHIP 2024

DESCRIPTION:

The J-100 AFJROTC Character-in-Leadership Scholarship program (Type 1, HSSP) provides 100 cadets a full scholarship with benefits including: 4-years of 100% paid tuition at any university, or crosstown partner, with an AFROTC detachment; a $10,000 per-year allowance for university-owned/on-campus housing; an annual book stipend; and a monthly cadet stipend. There are no specific degree requirements; however, cadets are encouraged to consider technical degrees (i.e., Chemistry, Engineering, Physics, etc.…) to meet the growing demand for these disciplines. Accepting the scholarship will require a cadet to meet all AFROTC requirements and pursue an officer commission.

The J-100 scholarship program focuses on character, leadership development, and citizenship and it inspires future leaders to seek careers in the US Air Force and Space Force. The J-100 program is open to all eligible cadets and is designed to provide an extraordinary opportunity for our diverse pool of candidates. Unit instructors are highly encouraged to take advantage of this remarkable program.

SCHOLARSHIP DETAILS:

The 2024 J-100 AFJROTC Character-in-Leadership Scholarship is for AFJROTC or SFJROTC graduating high school seniors with a minimum of 2 or more years of JROTC experience. Unit instructors may nominate 1-4 eligible cadets for this scholarship program, based on unit size. Cadets must ACCEPT the nomination before they can continue with the application. Declinations will reset the unit nomination allocation to allow instructors to nominate another cadet.

1-100 Active Cadets = 1 Nomination (this applies to TX-20008)

This is an extremely competitive program therefore, unit instructors must screen all applicants to ensure they are able to meet post-selection requirements. Earning the scholarship and attending a university is not enough; the goal is to commission as an officer in the U.S. Air Force or U.S. Space Force.

APPLICANT ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA:

- 3.0 unweighted GPA

- 22 ACT or 1100 SAT; Applicants must make every effort to take one of these tests (See Note 1)

- 75% PFT (New AFJROTC Fitness Standard)

- Minimum of 2 calendar years of AFJROTC experience

FLIGHT ACADEMY SCHOLARSHIP 2023

The window to apply is now open!!!!

BACKGROUND/OVERVIEW: The Air Force is funding scholarships for AFJROTC cadets to attend collegiate private pilot training at public/private universities during the summer of 2023. The scholarship will be awarded to highly competitive cadets who are interested in aviation related fields. The scholarship will pay for round-trip airfare, room and board, collegiate academics, and flight hours required to potentially earn a Private Pilot’s Certificate (PPC). This exciting opportunity will be an in-residence collegiate program, approximately 8 weeks in length. There will be additional, specific university information and requirements after cadets are nominated, boarded, selected, and matched to attend partnering universities. Cadets will be engaged in an intensive academic, flying training program and may have classes or flying training during weekend hours. Each university hosting students is an independent organization and provides its own management and oversight for students and programs. Student’s successful completion of their Private Pilot’s Certificate is singularly dependent on each student’s academic and flying ability, and the university’s determination and judgment to recommend a student.

WHO MAY APPLY: Applicants must be a current high school sophomore, junior, or senior, and be an AFJROTC cadet (active or reserve status) who understands they are volunteering for a scholarship to a public/private university. There is no military service commitment or obligation, nor does program completion justify acceptance to military service, Air Force ROTC scholarship, or military service academy appointment. Applicants must be at least 17 years old by 31 July 2023, obtain a minimum score of 50 on the mass fitness assessment, and have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 or better (on a 4.0 scale) to submit a package or be nominated. Cadets who successfully complete the program and receive their Private Pilot’s Certificate are encouraged to join the Civil Air Patrol (CAP) and may continue flying a minimum of once per month and with a CAP instructor quarterly (if applicable). This is dependent on funding and aircraft availability, but will be little or no cost. INSTRUCTIONS: The AFJROTC Flight Academy application is made up of two parts: 1. Complete the application online (at https://wings.holmcenter.com). This should have already been completed by the student. 2. Complete page 2 of this form. This must be returned to the student’s AFJROTC instructors for upload. All fields are mandatory

Anthony Durrell, an 11th grade Air Force Junior ROTC cadet at Burkburnett High School has been selected as an alternate for a scholarship to attend an accredited aviation university participating in a Private Pilot Certificate training program in the summer of 2022.  If a selected cadet cannot attend, then alternates are selected to attend.  Cadet Durrell must fully prepare for the program the same as selects so that in the event he is picked up as a select he will be ready to attend.

More than 1300 cadets applied for one of the 200 scholarships. There are almost 120,000 high school students enrolled in Air Force Junior ROTC programs at approximately 870 high schools in the U.S. and overseas. The scholarship covers transportation, room and board, academics and flight hours required to potentially earn a Private Pilot Certificate. The scholarship is valued at approximately $22,500.

The Air Force Junior ROTC Flight Academy Scholarship Program is an Air Force-level initiative in collaboration with the commercial aviation industry to address the national civilian and military pilot shortage. The Flight Academy allows aspiring young aviators to get their Private Pilot’s Certification, at no cost, during an eight-week summer course at partner universities.. Those who participate in the program will earn a college transcript but do not incur a military commitment to the Air Force or other branch of service, nor does completing the program guarantee acceptance into one of the military’s commissioning programs.

The mission of Air Force Junior ROTC is to develop citizens of character dedicated to serving their nation and community, while instilling values of citizenship, service to the United States, personal responsibility and sense of accomplishment.

BACKGROUND/OVERVIEW: Through its partnership with the National Science Foundation and CSforALL, HQ AFJROTC is pleased to announce summer scholarship funding for AFJROTC cadets to attend an “online” Cyber college course at select public/private universities during the summer of 2021. Selected cadets will be identified through a competitive, multiphased, boarding process. The scholarship funds one college course which will award approximately three college credit hours upon successful completion. The course duration, depending on the university, may vary but could be 8 weeks long.

Cyber/IT Experience (30%)

Instructor Endorsement (20%)

Physical Fitness Score (10%)

Extracurricular Activities (20%)
