2020-2021

THE EXECUTIVE BOARD

Reynan Robles

President

Mathematics Society was really a big help for me. I started in nothing, hindi ko nga alam kung ano 'yung kaya ko pero MathSoc gives me a lot of people who is willing to help me. Ngayon, the challenge is in you. Are you ready to solve the mystery of why Mathematics Society will plays a big part of your college life? Join now and be one of us!

Clarisse Crisostomo

Internal Vice President

College life is indeed hard pero yung MathSoc yung masasabi kong nagbigay pa lalo ng kulay sa buhay ko. MathSoc is my second home, a place for growth, and something that I would treasure and would be proud of for the rest of my life.

Dati lang kong member to be honest. Pero simula nung chinallege ko yung sarili ko na sumali sa Sail Academy ng BulSU OSO, I was given an opportunity na maging isa sa officers ng MathSoc. I did it voluntarily kasi gusto ko nang lumabas sa shell ko nun para malift-up yung bumabagsak kong self-esteem dahil na rin sa pagbagsak ko noon sa dream school at course ko. I promised myself na hindi ko man ma-achieve 'yun gaya ng SHS classmates ko, I can make a better future for myself. I'll make the best out of the things na meron ako. And I'm so thankful and proud of myself for what I did, dahil I am what I am right now because of that. Worth it ang pagiging parte ng MathSoc.

I really recommend fellow students to join and experience the life in MathSoc. College life is more fun with MathSoc!

Joemar Mallari

External Vice President

What I liked about MathSoc, at bakit nga ba ako sumali dito. Siguro magkwento ako ng kaunti hano?

So when I was in first year being a BS Math AS student, year 2015, kagaya ng iba wala akong idea sa course, and nasa isip ko din that time na mag-shift nalang ng course after 1st or 2nd semester. Ang alam ko din ‘di talaga ako active sa org noon, and parang nagpapamember lang ako kasi mandatory s’ya that time. But then after a year, nag-stop ako ng pag-aaral dala ng kakulangang pang-pinansyal, then graduating din kasi that time si ate, and hindi pa free tuition. So ayun, nagwork ako, then year 2017 nagbalik ako ng pag-aaral, 2nd sem na since na-credit yung mga subjects ko nung 1st sem. That time wala na ding 2nd year ang AS kaya nag-change ako ng specialization into CS. So nag-try akong mag-apply for MathSoc EB ’18-’19. But sad to say, di ako pinalad. After that, naging active member nalang ako until magkaroon ng opportunity na mapasama sa MathSoc family. Year 2018-2019, naging PIC Committee Associate ako, kasabayan ko noon sina Pres Norie at Pres Reynan. Those activities and events that we conducted and organized, na-realize ko na ang dami palang job opportunities na pwedeng pasukan after graduating this course. Then fast forward dahil mahaba na tong kwento ko, year 2019-2021, I’ve become the MathSoc External Vice President. Di ko alam kung bakit 2 years ako sa position na ito, pero masasabi ko na isa to sa pinaka-challenging at best experience ko as a student. Kasi during 2 years of being EVP, na-experince ko s’ya in face to face and even in virtual class. And sobrang thankful ako sa MathSoc at sa lahat ng nakasama ko rito, for all those good and unforgettable experience na pinaranas n’yo sa akin.

Sana kagaya ko, ay marami din kayong maging magandang karanasan being a member or being an officer of MathSoc. Siguro mag-iwan nalang ako ng line, “In order to discover new things about yourself, you have to get out of your comfort zone. Grow with the flow.”

Olivia Bernardo

Secretariat Committee Head

"MathSoc is my escape."

I know, it is unbelievable lalo na kapag Secretariat Committee Head for two consecutive terms ang nagsabi. Kasi naman, you do not need to solve complex mathematical problems in MathSoc.

I learned in MathSoc that you do not need to have excellent skills, especially first-rate grammar skills, because MathSoc itself will develop your skills.

Kaya, SALAMAT MATHSOC!

Actually, ayoko talaga mag-officer. Napilit lang ako. There are lots of reasons to say "NO," but there is one reason why I said "YES" - TRUST.

It was a great decision when I decided to grab the opportunity. Though sometimes, I found myself "tulala" sa dami ng gawain pero grabe yung fulfillment na ibibigay sayo after accomplishing all the tasks.

Paul Miki Cruz

Secretariat Committee Associate

MathSoc is it about Mathematics? Academics? Organization? Yes, but also No. MathSoc is more than what you first expect it to be, and it will always be better.

The essence of the organization comes from its members improving themselves and helping others improve likewise. Being a member of MathSoc is a big help for me to gain confidence and maintain sanity. It might not be the bravest action I made, but it is the most sensible of them all.

MathSoc is a safe place to rebuild yourself in preparation for the future. It will always be there to support you, so hold on tight.

Mathematics Society was the best, kasi ito yung unang naging organization ko inside the Bulacan State University.

Jaypee Alamin

MemCom Associate

MathSoc turned out to be a training ground and a safe space at the same time because this org really helped me in satisfying my burning passion to help other people through its projects and it also gave me people to trust, to talked to, and family to treasure.

Actually, during my first 2 years in College gustong-gusto ko na ma-try ang MathSoc because of its mission and vision to help the BS Mathematics students pero hesitant ako kasi hindi ako sure kung ano ang maibibigay ko sa kanila pagdating sa values na mayroon sila. Then third year came, na-"budol" ako ng classmates ko na nasa MathSoc and nakita ko kung gaano sila kasaya at ka-fulfilled during their stay so nag-try ako and I am happy to say na nagpabudol ako kasi ngayon isa na ako sa mga nagbibigay buhay para makulayan ang magagandang hangarin ng MathSoc para sa members, sa College, sa University at sa Philippine Society.

Internal Audit Committee Head

This year has been really tough on me. Now that I'm called "Head"/ "Internal Audit Committee Head", a certain thing came and changed my life. I knew to myself that a lot of times I missed the opportunity to serve other people but MathSoc never let me feel the guilt I thought. They helped me more than I deserve; they raised a fund for my operation and continue to pray for my fast recovery. Especially to our beloved former adviser Sir Joselito Roque who continuously checked on me and Ma'am Valentine Blez Lampayan for the aid and care she has given me. No words can express how blessed I am to be in an organization like this. Here, we are family. They will treat each other with love you will never encounter in your college life.

Joshua Valeroso

Student Development Committee Head

I was very hesitant to join this organization. I don't know if I'm able to socialize with the student leaders in MathSoc and if I can be an effective officer while being an "ulirang" student.

Eventually, after several "budol" by Pres Norie and Pres NK, I was able to have the courage to run for the election of EB '20-'21 for SDC Head. As described by our current organization President, Student Development Committee is "one of the most difficult committees to handle" in MathSoc. Hindi halata yung pressure 'di ba?

But I then realized that in MathSoc, you have nothing to worry about. Your colleagues will be there to help you to accomplished all your tasks smoothly. MathSoc values "teamwork" and "family". Yes, it will be difficult as you will do certain things that you cannot believe you are capable of, but at the end of the day, you will become better and you grow as a student and as a leader.

I would like to thank all of the EB '20-'21 especially Sir Roque for trusting my abilities and potential as a student-leader, I am what I am now because of MathSoc.

I was waiting for an opportunity, I really want to join because my closest friends are part of this org, but there’s a hindrance for me, I don’t want people to think or even talk to my back saying “Hindi kasi siya nanalo kaya nagpunta ng org”. That’s the least I want to be heard, because I will not do those things “para may mapuntahan lang”, I will do it because i want to. Then opportunity came, my friend invited me to apply for a position, he told me that one of the officer saw my potential and it will be a waste of talent if I can't showcase it to the college. Though back, then I’ve decided to stop joining to any extra curricular and focus to my acads, they are good in persuading and I just can’t let this opportunity go. I guess when you really want something, it will lead you to the place that you should be.

No one pushed me to join, but their trust helped me to decide, they don’t think of me of someone who failed the election campaign but someone who can lead. And I thank MathSoc for that.

I want to thank MathSoc for giving colors to my college life, I was looking for something that could enhance my leadership skills and true enough I found it in mathsoc. I hope this legacy will continue, to be able to help students and somehow change someone’s life or even make an impact. Thank you for making difference.

Sumali ako sa MathSoc kasi alam ko na matutulungan ako nito mag-grow at mag-learn ng new things and makakilala ng mga bagong kaibigan. It also helped me kung paano mag-manage ng time sa acads at sa organization.

Since my first year days, I had no intentions to join on any organizations because I just want to focus on my study back then. It all start when I met one of the current president of the org, 'di ko nalang s'ya papangalanan. And after noon, unexpected things happened kasi nagulat ako na isa ako sa candidate for one of the positions of the org election and mas nakakagulat pa kasi hindi naman ako nagpasa ng application. And after ng election, thanks to God at nanalo naman ako for that position. But all in all, I am so glad and thankful na nakilala ko s'ya at ang MathSoc kasi kung hindi dahil sa inyo, ako pa rin yung student na walang ka confi-confidence sa sarili. Sobrang natulungan ako ni MathSoc na mag-grow at mag-learn ng new things at umalis sa comfort zone na meron ako.

I joined the Mathematics Society simply because, I want to be a part of a community where I could potentially grow myself. I also want to meet people who are also interested in Math. Interestingly, I became one of the officers, and they kept me in. I became more appreciative of all the efforts MathSoc gives to help us, students.

Mathematics Society is the first organization I joined in my college journey. Being a part of this small community, I was able to see for myself the essence of the program, as a BS mathematics student. Mathematics Society gives their sincerity to help students transpire to appreciate mathematics and its applications.

Life changing!

Lionel Comission

Multimedia Committee Associate

I joined the Mathematics Society because I want to share my skills in making publication materials. The benefits of joining the Mathematics Society improved the way I manage my time and has allowed me to connect with fun, talented and creative individuals. Moreover, The most fulfilling component of being a student organisation member is sharing your skills with the student.

David Brian Corpuz

Multimedia Committee Associate

If I were to ask about MathSoc, MathSoc was like a family to me we create memories while helping other students. Most of the people probably think that this org will only be a load for students but it isn't. We find ways to help our ka-Mathizens find a suiting technique or discover what studying with passion truly is. We plan projects that are not only objective to learning but it can also be fun to do. We are not only a simple org, we are a family that helps one another without leaving a single student behind.

Keith Eigns Sayo

Multimedia Committee Associate

Student Adviser

It was the time when I decided to get out of my comfort zone and to have another environment to explore and that is the BulSU OSOA. I thought this term will be just light for me but I am wrong since it is the first academic year that we will conduct activities during a pandemic we are still in the adjusting stage and we want to give our best to serve the students. As an adviser it allows me to share my experiences during the last two terms that I have experienced. Moreover, I become a guide to my co-officers whenever there are problems that we encounter. Overall I am happy that for the third year I was able to become an instrument to help the students who are in need even it is organization matters or academic matters.
