I am excited to get back into the swing of things and look forward to working with all of you as we work towards this new semester!
English I: As the semester begins we will be focusing on writing and gaining confidence in that area. We will be doing this with a focus on mechanics and higher-level comprehension and composition. We will specifically be studying ancient civilizations, particularly looking at the literary contributions of ancient Greek mythology. We will be reading and considering short stories, plays, articles, and various other forms of content.

English III: In this class, we will be doing some refreshers in mechanics and vocabulary as we read the novel Dracula by Bram Stoker. Through that lens we will look specifically into how literature affects culture and society as a whole while bringing certain aspects more up to date and finding how old themes and ideas affect us today.

February is here❣️
I sure hope Punxsutawney Phil does not see his shadow on Groundhog Day and we have an early spring!!
Geometry: Students have been learning the basics of segments and angles using the Segment and Angle Addition Postulates to determine missing lengths and angle measures. We will be learning how to partition line segments, determining the midpoint of two ordered pairs, and finding the length between two coordinates using the Distance Formula. As the semester progresses, we continue to add many vocabulary words that strengthen our understanding of the language of Geometry.
Algebra 2: Students did exceptionally well on our first unit (Matrices)! We just started our next unit of study which consists of Solving Linear Equations by various methods (Graphing, Substitution, Elimination) and then we will circle back and use Matrices to solve them as well. We will also be learning about Inequalities and how they apply in the real-world. Students will solve inequality problems and use number lines and inequality notation to represent them.
As always, feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns you may have.

February is here!!
Lots of quality instruction going on in the English classes at CRC.
Students are going back to some basics in the area of grammar and writing. Good sentences lead to good paragraphs, which lead to good essays! Dr. Rose is covering it all and I appreciate the quality instruction for our students!
What can we say about the month of February?
"February is the border between winter and spring". ~Terri Guillemets, "Outlines of Joy"
By the end of this month, we will be excitedly anticipating spring. Please be involved in your children's education. Ask them what they are studying, and what they are reading. Show interest. Partner with their teachers (we want the best for them too!). Plant the seeds that will help to make them lifelong learners. There is no greater gift!
I am hopeful that we will have a great spring semester!
Please feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns.
