Ms. Johnson: Math
This month in math, students across all grades are diving into exciting topics!
8th Grade: Students will be exploring transformations. They'll work on translations, reflections, rotations, and dilations while analyzing how figures move and change in the coordinate plane.
7th Grade: We're focusing on angles and triangles. Students will investigate angle relationships, classify triangles, and solve problems using properties of geometry.
6th Grade: Our focus is on measures of central tendency (mean, median, and mode) and data distributions. Students will interpret data, create visual representations, and analyze what the data tells us.
Encourage your students to share what they’re learning at home and make connections to the world around them. Let’s make February a month full of mathematical discovery!
Ms. Goolsby: Language Arts
This quarter in Language Arts, our students have been diving into history through the lens of our historical fiction unit. As we wrap up this engaging journey, students have not only explored captivating novels like The Children's Blizzard and The Mystery in Rocky Mountain National Park, but they’ve also connected with the past by creating their own historical fiction journals. These creative works allowed students to step into the shoes of characters from different eras, blending imagination with historical accuracy. It’s been wonderful to see their enthusiasm as they brought history to life through storytelling, and I'm so proud of the effort and creativity they’ve shown!
