Description

Resources and Information

8th grade students choose a sustainability elective class at the beginning of the year. Through this course, students study the theme of climate change and urbanization through the lens of a particular field of study. Fields of study this year include: Robotics, Graphic Design, Videography, Dance/Music, and Writing.

Project blocks meet during a once a week, two-hour class. The double period of time allows for more hands-on learning experiences in and out of the school.

At the end of the semester, students will present final community action projects to a panel of experts.

Urbanization studies the effects of population growth and change over time on a city. Students question how NYC will house, feed, and otherwise support it's citizens as the city grows. They will also study the effects of urbanization on climate change.

Climate Change is the cumulative changes in weather patterns our planet is facing due to the increased use of fossil fuels and carbon dioxide released into the atmosphere.
