WHAT IS WORDWALL?
Wordwall.net is an online platform where teachers can find various templates to create interactive activities for students to work on at home or in the classroom. This website is quite effective when working with SEN students, as it offers several features that can be adapted to their needs. Teachers can customize templates to create assignments for their students and they can also share the activities through different options such as QR codes or embedding them on websites.
Then, you choose the option “create activity”.
Finally, you pick a template and customize it according to your needs. You can give a tittle to your activity, provide instructions, type your questions/answers, add pictures and audio, and choose a theme for your activity, among many other things.
NB! When you finish editing, do not forget to save the changes, and make the activity public so your students can access it when you share it with them.
Students can do word search or matching exercises without having to print the handouts.
Students can do the exercises at their own pace without being pressured by other students in the class.
Students can move on as soon as they finish the previous questions.
Students can do the exercise again if they are not satisfied or want to review the lesson.
Wordwall can also help teachers in tracking student performance.
Teachers can use templates provided by Wordwall to create exciting activities, such as multiple-choice quizzes, matching pairs, anagram, sorting out, or cloze questions, without having to design them from scratch.
Wordwall does not have an instructor-paced feature. It does not allow teachers to move from question to question like Kahoot! or Quizizz, so if teachers want to give detailed explanations after each question, Wordwall is not a good choice.
It offers a limited number of free activities. Teachers can only create five activities with a free account and printables are also not allowed. However, teachers can search for available public activities created by other teachers and use them.
Absence of "import" feature. It is not possible to import content from a file on Wordwall. Teachers can copy the content and paste it into the question/answer boxes, or they can type it directly into the site.
