Throughout the school-year, I will be visiting classrooms and talking to the students about creating a positive, bully-free environment here at Buckeye. This environment is fostered through learning about core-character traits such as respect, caring, compassion, empathy, and tolerance for others. Our school district has implemented the OLWEUS Bullying Prevention Program. These concepts are stressed throughout our classroom guidance sessions. For more information about the OLWEUS Program, please visit their website at the link below.
Teaching kids to have self control is one of the most important character traits we can teach. Experts believe that kids who master self-regulation become masters of their learning, are more critical thinkers, and make healthier choices; and the benefits are life-long. This is why, at the Primary Building, we will be spending time laying the foundation of positive self-regulatory behavior in order to equip our students with the tools that are necessary to help them be successful throughout their lives.
