The community gains understanding of IB philosophy, with regular updates and newsletters to keep everyone informed and engaged.
Periodic unit updates are sent, with the initial update including a guide on how to interpret the information provided.

All the processes of the school are planned around the PYP values- a constructivist approach to teaching, the time tables , the terminology used, budget etc. all support PYP learning.
The school pledge taken by the students and the staff every morning also highlights the values of the PYP.

A 3.d: The school is committed to the PYP as the framework for all planning, teaching and learning across the curriculum.
Strategies/Actions:
All students of the school from Pre-K to Grade 6 undergo learning through and within the PYP framework. Single subjects are also planned through a PYP planner. The scope and sequence documents have been made and all the teachers have access to it to refer to them continuously.

A 3.e: The school demonstrates a commitment to transdisciplinary learning.
Strategies/Actions:
PYP values are consistently integrated both within and be yond the program of inquiry, spanning from Pre-K to Grade 6. The school embraces a transdisciplinary approach to teaching and learning within the PYP framework.
Specialist teachers connect with the units of inquiry, making the learning transdisciplinary.
To keep everyone informed about the trans disciplinarity of the programme, the school conducts orientations and interface, and regularly sends newsletters and unit updates, including initial guidance on how to interpret them. Parents receive ongoing insights into their child's progress through unit reports, parent-teacher meetings (PTMs) and student-led conferences.
A session was conducted to assist teachers in understanding authentic integration and to dispel the myth that every unit must include integrated subjects. Also, equip teachers to create more opportunities for transdisciplinary learning in the class

A4: The school develops and promotes international-mindedness and all attributes of the IB learner profile across the school community.
Strategies/Actions:
The learner profile is discussed in the whole school assembly and the attributes are used in the school pledge. Students are given badges of learner profile, that they displayed prominently all over the school. The learner profile attributes are explicitly taught, modelled and embedded within the units of inquiry and curriculum across all learning areas (including specialist learning areas).
There are multiple ways students are provided with opportunities to reflect on their learning and development of the learner profile attributes through individual goal setting, self- reflection in SOLs and verbalisation of their understanding through discussions. Students discuss and communicate with parents during ‘Student-led’ conferences, Interface and during parent reflection of SOLs too.
The school celebrates international mindedness through various events such as International Yoga day, National Sports Day, Telugu Diwas, Janmashtami, Ramleela, etc to promote that everyone with their differences can also be right.

A5: The school promotes responsible action within and beyond the school community.

Street store - an open-source initiative designed to bridge the gap between those who have and those who have not. This decade-long tradition perfectly aligns with the core values of Silver Oaks, embodying our culture of giving and supporting our mission to nurture individuals guided by strong character.
We believe this event is an excellent way to foster a sense of Civic and Social Responsibility and provide support to those in need. It also offers a unique opportunity for our students and community members to come together in the spirit of generosity and compassion.
Silver Oaks created a 'good habits' festival to encourage children to reflect on their good habits and shed the bad habits.

A6: The school promotes open communication based on understanding and respect.

The school has different communication channels such as:
School parent website - where the complete information of the school is given.
Toddle - It is a two way communication channel. Parents and teachers can interact with each other. All the updates, unit reports, newsletters, assignments are sent through Toddle.
Home School Relation Manager ( HSRM) - A HSRM is appointed for a cluster of classes to enable easy communications and redressal of problems. Phone numbers and mail IDs are shared with parents for quick communication.
Students as communicators.
Communication happens through other channels too, like, Interface - in the beginning of school year, school brochure, PTM, and SLC.

A7: The school places importance on language learning, including mother-tongue, host country language and other languages.
Strategies/Actions:
The school has developed a language policy in collaboration. The medium of instruction is English and as the 2nd language student can choose between Hindi (national language) and Telugu (language of the State).

A 7a: The school makes provision for students to learn a language, in addition to the language of instruction, at least from the age of seven. Schools with two languages of instruction are not required to offer an additional language.
Strategies/Actions:
The language policy states that all teachers in the school are language teachers, emphasising that learning occurs through language. The language policy includes three languages: English, a second language (Telugu/Hindi), and a third language (Hindi/Telugu) from G1 onward, aligning with the national language policy.

A 7.b: The school supports mother tongue and host country language learning.

Apart from English, students are learning a second language (Telugu/Hindi) , 3rd Language (Hindi/Telugu) Grade 1 upward as a part of national language policy.
Spanish is taught as an additional language from Grade 1 to expose the students to different languages.
Different language days are celebrated during the assembly.

A 8: The school participates in the IB world community.
Strategies/Actions:
The HOS and the PYPC are trained IB educators, the former being an IBEN, and believe in the philosophy of the program. They are both academic leaders.
The Director Education, Head PYP and the Head of the school are IBEN members and evaluation leaders.
All the teachers are enrolled in MY IB and have access to PRC and IB Exchange.
The school is a part of the Hyderabad Network of PYP schools and engages actively with other schools.
The Head of the school, EYC and the PYPC attended IB coordinators Meet on 10th August 2024 in Chennai.
The PYPC & EYC are a part of an online platform, PYP Global.

Implementing the PYP program for Pre-K to G6, as stated in the inclusion policy, the school strives to remove learning barriers. The timetable supports in-depth inquiry, and stakeholder rights and responsibilities are outlined in the inclusion policy.
