The National Soil and Water Resources Research and Development Center for Hillyland Pedo-Ecological Zone (NSWRRDC HILLPEZ) ensures viable and safe cultivation of marginal hillyland through conservation farming practices to boost hillyland farmers’ income and satisfy the nutritional and functional food requirement of rural communities.
The Center offers technical assistance, guide, help, etc. in terms of farm planning, crop suitability and land suitability assessment, soil sampling and testing, etc., through its Hillyland Agriculture Sustainability Help, Technical Assistance, Guide in Farming (HASHTAG Farming) Program.
As a learning center, the National Soil and Water Resources Research and Development Center for Hillyland Pedo-Ecological Zone (NSWRRDC HILLPEZ) is mandated to showcase cost-efficient and environment-friendly soil and water management technologies in hillyland pedo-ecological zones.
The Center conducts learning activities through its Sustainable Hillyland Farming Technologies and Practices for Soil and Water Conservation and Management in Agriculture (SHiFT for SWaC Agriculture) program under its regular core functions. The program offers topics focusing on Agro-technologies related to Soil Conservation, Fertility Management, Crop Management and Suitability Classification, etc.
The National Soil and Water Resources Research and Development Center for Hillyland Pedo-Ecological Zone (NSWRRDC HILLPEZ) is mandated to undertake validation and demonstration of agro-technologies relating to soil conservation, fertility management, water resources management, organic and protective agriculture in hillyland pedo-ecological zone.
The perennials technology demonstration farm showcases soil and water conservation and management technologies and practices. It validates the effect on soil properties, and growth and yield of perennial crops of the different interventions applied.
The vegetable technology demonstration showcases vegetable production incorporated with different soil and water conservation and management technologies such as contour farming, soil fertility management, and high-value commercial crop production in hillyland acidic soil.
