Cooperation and Teamwork
Students will go through a Cooperation Campers presentation to discuss the importance of working as a T.E.A.M. Then we will put cooperation into practice by playing some different board games, card games, and activities.
Friendship, Social-Skills
A Little Spot Makes Friends YouTube Read Aloud - We will read this book during the lesson.
Students will complete gingerbread themed activities focused on positive social skills and being a good friend. Some of the strategies shared include, joining in on the fun, asking to play, asking good questions, active listening, respecting personal space, being kind, making safe choices, and more!
Conflict Resolution, Social-Awareness, Relationship Skills
The Fort YouTube Read Aloud - We will read this during the lesson
A pirate and a prince have both been playing on the same fort in the woods until they both arrive at the same time and need to learn to share/compromise. After reading, students will get to color their own imaginary fort while discussing different strategies to solving problems with others in a positive way.
Integrity, Responsible Decision Making
Students will go through a quick presentation about integrity and complete a virtual maze by answering questions to show what they know. Integrity means being honest, trustworthy, respectful, and responsible or N.I.C.E.
Erin's Law - Child Abuse Prevention
FightChildAbuse.org - Bellbrook-Sugarcreek & Ohio Department of Education and Workforce approved curriculum.
Separate information will be sent out in February with more information about the law behind this lesson and includes Opt-out information. Child abuse prevention education is required yearly K-8 in Ohio.
Resilience and Self-Awareness
Heads up! YouTube Read Aloud - We will read this during the lesson.
Students will develop self-awareness and resilience through this adorable book about a squirrel named Peanut. Peanut has difficulties getting his kite to fly, but with some encouragement from others and by never getting up he is able to succeed. After the story, students will practice self-affirmations and then create a kite craft with kind words they can use to up-lift themselves and others.
