Key Club is an international club that's main focus is serving its community, providing service opportunities to its members helping improve the community for the better.
I have done many service activities in this club such as making posters for events, card making for veterans and patients, positive cards to hang around in school, and much more.
I have learned how to work in a team and how important it is to have a strong communication with the team and help the community for the better.
On 10/31/24 we made cards for veterans demonstrating our gratitude for their bravery in war and appreciating how much they have done. I made a card for a marine veteran!
On 7/19/25 during summer there was an event to pack up all the mail for students and families to receive information for the coming school year.
We started at 9am and ended at 11:22am, it took so long because we had to organize the papers then fold them in the right way so they could fit in the envelope.
On 1/6/26 we had the opportunity to decorate the lunch bags for meals on wheels. Coloring paper lunch bags to make them cuter. Meals on wheels focuses on bringing groceries to the elderly who are not able to leave their houses.
NHS is a national society that participates in doing good for the community that is by taking on service projects and events.
The usual events were card making, tree planting, and greenway cleanup (cleaning up the greenway park - picking up the trash).
Thanks to NHS I learned how to work in a team and help the community by participating in service projects and events.
Pathway club is a school club that gives out service opportunities for its members. Its main focus is to help the community that is in Southridge and other schools nearby.
We would usually do cards for 5th graders explaining how high school is and give out advice on what they can expect in high school. For wellness week we would host small games and activities students can participate in during lunch and seminar.
This was a really fun club. I really enjoyed making cards for 5th graders. It was fun drawing little cartoons and explaining how fun high school is. I'm also grateful how our leader would bring food to every club meeting, very delicious.
In this activity we would make cards to 5th graders from greenway commenting on how high school is, especially Southridge. I explained how fun and welcoming Southridge is and what fun opportunities it gives, like Terra Nova.
Link crew is a crew of upcoming seniors whose main focus is to welcome all freshmen into Southridge High School. Making sure they feel comfortable and welcomed into high school.
This was a fun crew to be in. It was kind of stressful because some freshmen were kind of rude and disrespectful but others were kind and nervous being in a new school.
This was the first day of freshman, getting to meet Southridge for the first time, meeting their teachers for the first time, and receiving their school ID.
This was a whole new experience for me and for it being my first time it was not the best day. The freshmen that I received were not the best, they were rude but thanks to my partner she was able to help me.
This was an event for Tualatin hills (THPRD) during the summer of 2024. The kid summer splash day was an event that was located in a park with inflatable water slides available for kids to have fun in the hot summer.
I was in charge of taking care of the kids making sure they don't push each other and go on the inflatables safely. But this wasn't the best experience for me. The kids were really wild and running around and some parents were patient but others were not. That would just stress me out and raise my anxiety.
After this event I realized that I don't do well with kids and i'd rather work with adults and teenagers in service projects.
Stagecraft would host work sessions after school so the students in stagecraft could continue working on the stage for theater.
This was my first work session and I stayed for 5 hours, it was really tiring. We worked on the stage for the Zombie Prom play and it was looking very good.
The wellness week hosted animals to come and meet the students of Southridge. I was in charge of introducing the students to the animals and making sure they are respectful and kind.
This was one of the best experiences I have had, it was really fun meeting these animals for the first time and seeing how students melt into meeting the animals.
On 4/18/25 at 12:30 pm until 2:30 pm, I helped take care of Alenxandria Hamilton (the pig). This was a really fun event. I learned lots of new things about pigs. It was so interesting. I didn't know pigs could eat the same things we eat like takis for an example.
On 4/21/25 at 1pm until 3pm, I helped take care of Casear the llama. This was so fun, Casear was in the fishbowl and he was so popular due to his cool personality. He was so chill and so fluffy.
On 4/23/25 at 10:45 am until 1:45 pm, I helped take care of all the kittens. There were at least 23 cats (19 kittens, 1 adult, and 3 teens). They were all so cute, the kittens were from a cat adoption team so they were all for adoption.
Every year Terra Nova would host a plant sale for the community, usually in May. On 5/3/25 I arrived at 9:16 am and left at 12:30pm. This was a really fun event, my role was to greet the customers and hand out carry out boxes so they can carry their plants.
The plant sale turned out to be really successful! All the plants were only $5, which made it really affordable.
On 11/16/25 at 12:49 pm until 3:45 pm we planted trees across the neighborhood. There was a big team so we splitted into 5 groups. I think I planted about 4 trees in the neighborhood. This was a really fun event. I would 100% do this again! Even if it was a rainy day and I got all muddy I still enjoyed it.
