Hi! My name is Ashley and I'm Mexican-American also known as Chicano/a. I have lived in Oregon my whole life and I love it here! Ever since Elementary school I have been part of the Dual language program which has given me the opportunity to learn in Spanish and English, thanks to this program I met my best friends and the best teachers anyone could ask for. Once I started High School I was very nervous and scared, being one of the shiest kids around but throughout my high school years I was able to grow out of my comfort zone and make new friends. In my freshman and sophomore year I had no clue what I was doing, I didn’t pick the best classes but I did pick ASL which was one of my dreams, being able to learn ASL. But then in Junior and Senior year I found my path, going into the IBCP has helped me have a clearer understanding on what I wanted to do in the future and in high school. I followed the career path of sustainable agriculture following the school of Terra Nova. Terra Nova has helped me have an idea of what I wanted to do which is environmental science! A school of science, cooking, construction, and farming being able to connect science with nature. I also joined a lot of school clubs such as Baile Folklorico, MECHAS, Key club, NHS, Pathway club, Sustainable Club and Link Crew. I also had the courage to start my own club which was Crochet Club! Teaching other students how to crochet and enjoy the art of crochet.
I plan to graduate high school with all my friends!
I want to be an expert on crochet
I need to get my drivers license before college starts!!!
My goal is to major in Environmental Science in Portland State University.
Being able to use my efforts for the better, finding a way to restore nature and creating an environment safe for everybody including animals, plants, and people.
This was my first time performing in front of a crowd! I think this event was for an avid meeting on June 28 2025. I was really nervous and scared of messing up the dance or falling down.
This is a little short video of the Guelaguetza festival in hillsboro. Guelaguetza is a indigenous cultural festival that is celebrated in Oaxaca, Mexico. My parents were born in Mexico and my mom is from Oaxaca so we usually attend the Guelaguetza festival every year. Which is so fun! I recommend you should attend at least once.
These lovely people are my students and leaders of Crochet Club!!
We have had wonderful moments together and created such fun projects such as a ghost, little flowers, and a minion!
This is a class photo that we took for IB Spanish Lang&Lit apart of the Dual language program. This class was more than just a class but a family, a group of students that sticked together for all 4 years and an amazing teacher, Ms. Philipp, someone who shows us that we should never give up on ourselves and always find a way through it. Always waking us up in her class either with her excitement to teach and her motivation to making us learn, making each class feel like being full on beans or as if you're bouncing off the walls.
