November ~ a time to reflect upon all we are grateful for!
Although there are ALWAYS a wealth of circumstances to be thankful for at BCS, the month of November is a wonderful time to focus on what is truly meaningful...OUR PEOPLE...and 100% of the time that is because we have individuals, both students and staff, working together to accomplish great things!
With that, it does not get said enough how THANKFUL we are to have such wonderful people at our side....our students, our staff, the community at large, and beyond.
Thank you to ALL of our stakeholders for helping to make BCS the best that it can be. It does not go unnoticed and allows our #BryanBuilt journey to continue with endless possibilities.
As we head into the final weeks of school prior to our Fall Break, be sure to review the wealth of information and events yet to take place.......a lot is in store!
As always, THANK YOU and GO BEARS!

As you may recall, BCS continues to execute a Brownfield Remediation Grant in an effort to initiate a revitalization and rejuvenation process of the district's Central Building, known on the performing arts side as the Arts and Education Center and located in downtown Bryan. For refresher purposes, you can review the district's many facility plans by navigating to this LINK.
BCS is aiming to navigate a 2 phase process with the Central building.
BCS is more than excited to parter with the community to seek input on the visions to enhance the auditorium, the experience for guests, and for the ability to host the best performances and events possible. With this excitement, BCS is unveiling conceptual drawings (seen in the pictures compliments of Beilharz Architects) of what the Central Building renovation could entail.
The overall anticipated cost of the full scope of the project, including demolition of the building's "south half" and the new structural "add-ons" to the south side and north side of the auditorium range to approximately $4.2 million.
BCS will be pursuing board fiscal actions to authorize use of BCS monies to cover approximately 50% of necessary funding to put toward this initiative. BCS will then seek community partnership to help fund the remaining balance in an effort to pursue the completion of the project.

BCS understands that facility logistics and use may be heavily impeded during any and all contruction phases. With that, we assume there will be a period of time with limited, to no use, of the auditorium. Therefore, alternate sites may be sought after during the contruction phase.

In the spring of 2009, Brandon Knott and Matt Neff had a vision of Bryan City Schools hosting a meal as a fundraiser for the local homeless shelter, the Sanctuary. Based on Defiance’s Empty Bowls event, the Souper Bowl was started by Neff and Knott with organizational help from Steph Mazur. This event was first held on Friday, November 13, 2009, and it raised $3300.
It remains the largest single fundraiser for Sanctuary each year. Various student groups have aided in the process, including the art club, Interact, FCA, FCCLA, and the foreign language clubs. The staff also has been an integral part of this annual event, volunteering their time, soups, and baked goods to the endeavor. Chip Wood, as the liaison to Interact, as well as former teacher Kim Pepple, often solicited soup donations from area restaurants.
Souper Bowl typically occurs on the same evening as the opening day of the fall play; this year Souper Bowl is on Friday, November 15th. The Souper Bowl this year will run from 4-7 PM. For $10 a person, the meal includes a hand thrown bowl, soup, bread or crackers, a dessert, and lemonade or water. Students volunteer to serve, to clean, and to set up and tear down–these students rock!
The Outsiders is this weekend at the Arts & Education Center! Friday and Saturday at 7:00 pm and Sunday at 2:00 pm.
