The sunshine, some warmth, and Spring Break is upon us!
We wish everyone a restful spring break week filled with memories. Upon our return there will be SO MUCH happening across the district. We want to ensure that our students can perform at their highest levels, while celebrating their successes during the 4th quarter.
Please be sure to keep up to date on all the happenings through this newsletter and our various communications. We look forward to the excitement that lies ahead!
As always, thank you for your dedication and partnership with us to make the most of every opportunity!

This year, Bryan City Schools has been selected to complete a Family Engagement Survey to collect information about the special education programming and services your child receives. The Ohio Department of Education and Workforce (ODEW) would like to invite the families of students receiving special education services on an Individualized Education Plan to participate in a short, 25 question survey about their involvement in their student’s education.
The purpose of collecting this information is to improve services for students with disabilities across the state of Ohio. If you are eligible to participate and you enroll in the study, you will be entered in a drawing for a $50 gift card. The survey is open now through May 7, 2025.
Participation in this survey is voluntary. If you have a child who is on an IEP, you should have received an email on March 14 with the link to the survey. If you have any issues accessing that link or have questions/concerns about the survey, please reach out to Mrs. Kyleigh Meeker-Blad at the Elementary or Mrs. Julie Taylor at the 6-12 Building.
As we prepare to break ground on the new Career Tech Center, Junior High Gymnasium, and Weight room addition at the end of March we have to ensure that an appropriate, and safe, site plan is in place for the operations of our district, and for the construction crews, while school remains in session.
With that, please review the information and MANY updates below carefully so you are aware of our construction zone plans, and beyond!
EFFECTIVE DATE: Monday, March 31, 2025
Upon our return from Spring Break on Monday, March 31, 2025 the following site plan will be in effect:
The EAST STUDENT PARKING LOT on the east side of the high school WILL BE CLOSED TO STUDENTS for safety purposes.
NO STUDENT DROP OFF or PICKUP should occur in this lot or the main road. All student drop-offs should use the main drop-off line at the front of the building.
STUDENTS who typically park in the East Lot (near the Arts Entrance) will be asked to find a parking spot in one of the following areas (highlighted in Light Blue on the map below):
the south Fountain Grove Drive Lot
the west Events Lot; or
the Field House lot(s)
Enough parking spaces are available for this shift of student parking, but please be flexible and drivers should provide themselves enough time to adjust to this change until we adapt to this new parking structure.
Designated staff will be requested to park in the east lot to allow for parking availability in the designated student lots.
PLEASE ADHERE TO ALL VISITOR AND HANDICAP DESIGNATED PARKING SPOTS
This parking plan will be in effect until June of 2026, unless construction plans alter this timeline
As you can see on the site map, all Construction Traffic will be isolated to the entry/exit point on the east side of campus off of Fountain Grove Drive.
Construction traffic/equipment will then be isolated to their staging area and the new construction sites.
A temporary construction fence will be installed around the work site and staging area for safety purposes.
The bus lot and practice fields will remain in normal operation throughout the construction timeline.
The East lot will also be closed for any athletic/after school events, unless otherwise noted.
As with any construction project, the plans may be a bit fluid, so we thank you in advance for your flexibility and patience!
Bryan City Schools will be holding a Groundbreaking Ceremony for the project on Monday, March 31, 2025. The ceremony attendance is by invite only, but will include members of the student body in part with State Officials, Local Business Representatives, and BCS Board and Administration.
We are happy to announce that Governor Mike DeWine, Lt. Governor Jim Tressel, and State Representative Jim Hoops will be in attendance to celebrate the beginning of this project.
The ceremony will be a time of celebration to thank the many individuals who have helped to make this project a reality!
Curious about what the new addition will look like? Here is a video rendering of the new space which will include the new Junior High gym, concession stand, weight room, and the Career Tech classrooms.
Each year the Benedict Outstanding Educator Award is issued to one of our outstanding staff members in an effort to recognize their dedication to our students, and beyond.
The nomination form for this award is now available through the Bryan Area Foundation website and you can submit a form by navigating HERE.
Nominations are due by April 25, 2025.
In an effort to allow all BCS stakeholders the opportunity to plan ahead, the district continues a rotation of approving school calendars two years in advance.
With this said, the district has approved the 2026-2027 school calendar and it is now available for your viewing.
Bryan City Schools continue to place an emphasis on fiscal responsibility in all that we do. We are committed to keeping the wide range of school-based opportunities available to our students and in a manner that reduces as many financial burdens on a family as possible.
In that spirit, we are making some changes (beginning with the 2025-2026 school year) to the school fees that families of students in grades 6-12 will pay.
Technology Protection Plan:
REMOVING the $50 Technology Protection Plan fee for students in grades 6-12
This change means that ALL students will be able to take a Chromebook home on a daily basis (unless for some reason they do not wish, or are able, to). There is no longer any fee tied to a Chromebook take home allowance.
Students who pay their regular general school fee with respect to their appropriate grade level will still be granted a free Chromebook fix for the 1st repair needed.
Athletic Pay to Play Fee:
New HS Student Athlete Fee Structure (was previously $50 per student, per season, with a family cap of $200)
$40 per season, with a cap at $80 for the year and a family cap of $160.
New MS Student Athlete Fee Structure (was previously $50 per student, per season, with a family cap of $200)
$25 per season, with a cap at $50 for the year and a family cap of $160
All athletic fee collections will get spent in a manner to help our student-athletes and athletic programs as a whole.
General School Fees - No Changes:
No Changes to the HS (grades 9-12) Fee ~ it will stay at $110
No Changes to the MS (grades 6-8) Fee ~it will stay at $50
No Changes to the BE (grades K-5) Fee ~it will stay at $50
As always, any student who qualifies through the Ohio Household Income Form has the ability for their school fee and/or athletic pay to play fee waived.
In all, these changes will save all 6-12 students/families a minimum of $50 per year.
If a 6-12 student is also an athlete they will save the following amounts annually with these changes:
MS - $75
HS - $60
