On Sunday, January 19, Jacob Burnett, Theodore Luthy, Mya Moore, Nate Root, and Lee Sizemore performed in the OMEA District 1 MS School Honors Band Concert held at the Stranahan Theater in Toledo. Macy Xie and Grason Butler participated in the HS School Honors Band Concert later in the evening. Students in both groups were selected through a blind audition process from hundreds of applicants from throughout the Region. The students had a rehearsal Wednesday evening, a full day of rehearsing on Saturday, a short rehearsal on Sunday, and the event's culminating concert. It was a wonderful concert and the students should be proud of all their hard work.

Currently, the orchestra students are hard at work preparing new music for their upcoming concerts! Our Middle Schoolers are brushing up on their counting and note-reading for energetic, new pieces, while the High School Orchestra is studying three pieces that they will take to State Orchestra Competitions in Perrysburg at the end of February. It is a long-standing tradition, and we are excited to be going back again for another year! Alternative Strings is also undertaking a new challenge - preparing music for a collaborative concert with the Toledo School for the Arts!
This past Sunday, several High School and Middle School students participated in the OMEA District 1 Honors Orchestra. Through a competitive audition, they earned a spot in this ensemble, made up of the strongest string players in Northwest Ohio. They were featured along with the top band and choir students at a special concert at the Stranahan Theater in Toledo. Congratulations to Kamryn Mills, Addelyn Bruot, Jackson Vashaw, Brynn Fitzenrider, Sidney Luce, Harrison Spitnale, Addalyn Hendricks, Luke Spitnale, Nola O'Dell, Aubrey Kunsman, Christian Craig, Madison Klinepeter, Karlee Green, Owen Davis, Henry Burton, and Ana Pool!
