First semester exams are Wednesday, December 18th, Thursday, December 19th and Friday, December 20th. Exams represent 20% of a student’s semester grade.
Before taking their exams, students should review their study guides, get a good night’s sleep and eat a good breakfast. A student who does well on their exams can easily raise their semester average and help their grade in the course.
Shortly after we return for 2nd semester, we will put in place the senior exam exemption. Seniors with good attendance and grades will be eligible for this exemption. Check out the link for more details.

HAPPENING NOW!!
Federal Student Aid (FSA) has been conducting beta testing on the 2025-2026 FAFSA. This opportunity allowed them to carefully oversee actual students completing the form and help them identify technical glitches and issues that needed to be fixed before the form was formally launched. On Monday, November 18, SFA opened the testing to all students around the country for the final test to understand how well the new system could handle a high volume of users. The testing period was very successful and has allowed SFA to enhance the user experience when filing a FAFSA. As a result, the system officially opened on Thursday, November 21, for the 25-26 FAFSA cycle.
At this point, you should be encouraging your students and families to make sure they have established their FSA ID 3-5 days ahead of starting to complete their FAFSA online for the best user experience. The FAFSAs are being processed within 1-3 days, students are receiving FAFSA Submission Summaries and the processed results are being sent to colleges. Many colleges are in the final stages of setting up their software to be able to process the new forms. The paper version of the form is also available here.
Let the FAFSA fun begin. If you have questions about the form or financial aid, please feel free to reach out to the Outreach Committee at outreach@oasfaa.org
In addition, the U.S. Department of Education has announced that the 2025-2026 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) form is already active at studentaid.gov.

BMS/BHS Christmas for Kids 2024 Campaign
Christmas for Kids has been a cause BHS and BMS have been committed to since at least 2009. Students and staff have created competitions about giving between grade levels and sending extra special wishes to get more people excited about giving.
This year, Spangler Candy donated candy canes for our BHS Student Council’s Candy Cane Wishes program. Students and staff could donate a dollar to send a candy cane to someone at school. Our own BMS/BHS Golden Bear Photography donated a “present” so that students and staff could guess how many items were in it and have a chance to win the entire present. Each guess was a dollar. Miles Palmer won the “present’ with his guess of 220 items.
We had dress up days that counted toward the BHS Battle of the Classes competition sponsored by Mrs. Arthur and the senior class. The BMS Student Council sponsored a Dress up Battle of the classes with 6th-8th grades, with the winner receiving a hot chocolate party. The 6th grade won!
We also held a door decorating contest. Many classroom doors were decorated with a holiday theme to boost holiday spirits!
Mrs. Shindledecker’s BMS class helped to keep track of the giving by creating a cookie graph for each grade. For every $20, a paper cookie was placed on the paper baking sheet on the walls by the offices. The 6th grade class, the Class of ‘31 and the Senior Class of ‘25 were the top donating classes.
Mr. Alspaugh and Mr. Arnold set forth a challenge to the student body and staff to donate a little bit more and they would provide a treat in celebration. The students and staff met the challenge with a grand total of $3,303.37 donated to Christmas for Kids in 2024.
Congratulations to Mrs. Heslop and our Academic League team. They worked hard this season and their efforts resulted in a positive outcome.
They wrapped up their 2024 Williams County Academic League season at the end of season tournament held on November 21st at the NwOESC. The Bryan Varsity team took first place in the league. Placing in the top 10 scorers were Ethan Fryman, Alex Hartman and Skyler Crooks. The JV team placed 3rd in the league and Samantha Reineck placed in the top 10 JV scorers. Great job everyone!
For grades 9-12, Thursday, December 5th was our annual College and Career Day. Our freshmen and seniors remained at BHS. Our sophomores and juniors traveled around NW Ohio and NE Indiana.
The freshmen learned how to prepare for a job interview, the proper use of cell phones at work, received hands on CPR & AED experience, team building, how to read and write in cursive and the importance of saying something to adults when someone is being mistreated.
We sent a group of juniors to visit Trine University in Angola, IN and NW State in Archbold. Our sophomores visited Four County Career Center and had the opportunity to see programs they were interested in. In the afternoon, the sophomores and the juniors who went to NSCC toured area businesses such as Spangler Candy, Newcomer Farms, Allied Moulded, Titan Tire, Bard Manufacturing, TruFast, ART, the Bryan Municipal Building, and learned about other local career opportunities.
Our seniors learned about the financial expenses/responsibilities of life, played the Game of Life, learned about safe dates practices and about Erica's Lighthouse which deals with depression and suicide prevention.
Ms. Lamb's Interior Design students created a cardboard city featuring various housing styles. Home designs were Gothic Revival, Shed, Split level, Chateauesque, Mansard, Craftsman, Ranch and Tutor. As part of this project, the have been looking at the floor plans of these homes. A lot of work goes into the design of a home and these students have gotten a taste of what is required. This cardboard city is currently on display in the front hallway between the HS & MS offices.
