 Dear Parents & Students, 

Welcome to the Richmond Hill Middle School Band Program! The Richmond Hill Middle School Band Program has a rich tradition of excellence and quality. The success of the band program centers on pride,  commitment to task, and the willingness to work hard to achieve our common goals. Learning to play an instrument can be a rewarding and enriching experience. The purpose of this handbook is to provide a written policy on the organization and operation of our band program. Band is a group activity that depends upon the collaborative work of many individuals. The actions of one person will have an effect, either positive or negative, on the entire group. For this reason, we have guidelines that everyone must follow in order that each student may grow as an individual musician and also make a positive contribution to the entire group. It is our goal to provide every student the opportunity for musical growth through the learning and creating of music. We also expect our students to achieve superiority, not only in band, but also in academics and daily life. 

This upcoming school year, we have a few new ideas and goals that we would like to pursue and would like to offer as many musical opportunities to my students as we can. Please know that we will work diligently to provide a safe and encouraging learning environment and to provide you with any updates of information as quickly as we receive them. Your encouragement is greatly appreciated and needed as students begin learning something new in the band room and especially during the very first years of band. Thank you for working with us. Together as a team, we can truly challenge each child and lead them towards success.
