Astronomy is the study of stars and planets. It encompasses the study of all extraterrestrial phenomena. It helps with modern day studies, and it helped in the past as well. Astronomy helped with time, trading, and navigation. The idea was spread throughout Europe during the 8th to 14th century. It was a collaboration between many philosophers and not just one person. Ptolemy, Aristotle, and Plato were a few of these people. Ptolemy was the main help with the development of astronomy. Philosophers used many of his works to help with new discoveries. It was not just based on studying the sun, moon, and stars. It was based on helping with navigational uses, and many types of scientific interest.

It is one of the first natural sciences to have been developed by early civilizations. Astronomers could only measure based on using the human eye. The human eye was not as useful as tools and devices, but those came in later in time. The only tool they had was their eyes. It is also known as the science of charting the sky. What inspired the astronomers to continue in the study was just plain curiosity. They monitored the motions of the stars, and it was named as the best tool to track time during this period. The first documented records date back to 1000 BCE by Assyro-Babylonians. From this astronomers had built up knowledge of celestial movements and studies. It was originally created for calendrical and astrological purposes.

Astronomy had many impacts on many countries and cities. It impacted navigation, scientific uses, and the way we see the world. Ptolemy created a work study. Many astronomers from Europe, Asia, and etc used his work. It helped them to make better observations of the stars. Although, the systems they used were still somewhat weak at the time. The systems they used were the Ptolemaic and Aristotelian systems. It even impacted the 1900s. Some parts of astronomy proved Issac Newton's, and Albert Einstein's work to be correct.

It all started about 1000 years ago when people began measuring the positions of the stars. It was created mainly during the Islamic golden age. The Islamic golden age was the time when science and math ideas formed to create modern day sciences. ibn-Tariq created the first astrolabe in Islam, astrolabes had already existed, but he created the first one in the Islamic world. al-Fazari, ibn-Tariq, and al-Marwazi based the astronomy mainly off of Indian astronomy. Then, in later years another astronomer named al-Khwarizmi came and introduced more mathematical systems to the other astronomers. This helped them create more and more ideas as the days went on. Although he was not the only Islamic astronomer to bring mathematical ideas into the equation.
