The invention of algebra by the Islam people had a powerful and important impact because it introduced new concepts in mathematics and helped to simplify long equations. The word algebra itself comes from the Kitab al-Jabra, a book written by Muhammed ibn Musa al Khwarizmi.

The development of algebra began in the year 900 C.E.. It was conceived in the mind of the great Muhammed ibn Musa al Khwarizmi. He discovered this new concept for mathematics while studying in the House of Wisdom in Baghdad. He began his career in the House of Wisdom as a translator. According to Richard Bevan from HistroyHit.com, he was a Persian mathematician who followed the Muslim faith.

Since the invention of algebra in 900 C.E., it has had major impacts on civilizations through the ages. For example, it introduced an entirely new concept in mathematics to the world. Because teaching others was a popular Muslim belief, the use of algebra spread very quickly. Later on, during the Holy Crusades, the use of algebra allowed for the use of credit and banking, which caused most of Europe to switch to the Arabic numeral system in order to use it.

The numeral system we use today is derived from the Arabic numeral system!

Algebra has made day to day life much easier, as we can now employ an algorithm into a complex equation to solve it incredibly efficiently. This paved the way for modern computing, which improves everyday life by using a mechanism to automatically complete tasks. However, algebra can also be used in negative ways, as LowellMilkenCenter.org explains, "Muhammed's revolutionary approach to mathematics makes much of our current algorithmically-based technology possible, but has also raised some issues. While they provide significant benefits such as delivering targeted messages to micro-audiences through social media, they have also been used to manipulate public opinion for political purposes". While algebra has had both positive and negative impacts on the world, its overall impact is that it helped shape the world today.
