The Foundation of Irrigation
Bryson N.
This is an image representing irrigation in Mesopotamia showing the network of canals, ditches, dams, and other resources they used to successfully operate this system.
This image also shows what irrigation was like and how it was used. It shows how they transported the water over to their crops fields to help them grow. The invention was made by using a complex system of canals, ditches, basins, and other things to channel water from the Tigris and Euphrates Rivers. This helped them because it made it so that they could move the water where they needed it in the most effective and efficient way possible.
This invention of irrigation is historically important because it allowed the growth of many civilizations by providing a consistent and reliable food supply and making overall life easier.
The impact that it had on this civilization was that it made life easier as it helped provide food surplus and helped their crops thrive in the arid conditions. This is because of the extra water that's provided with it, allowing crops to grow easier. Irrigation gave them the ability to store water so that later on during the dry season they were able to use it to help their crops thrive.
This innovation was greatly needed by this civilization because this civilization experienced severe weather conditions. These conditions include constantly experiencing droughts and floods. To help their crops survive through this, they decided to create a technique called irrigation. According to Conserva Irrigation, "irrigation is the process of supplying water to land or crops to help them grow." They use things like dams, canals, basins, and many other things to distribute water from one area to another. This made it to where they could use the water provided by the Tigris and Euphrates Rivers and store it so that the crops wouldn't die during the droughts.
This helped them because they could transport the water to anywhere they needed making life easier for them. This also helped the crops survive and also provided food surplus helping later civilizations learn how to use irrigation to help their crops because the technique was passed on.
