Mesopotamia, Mesopotamia is the first location in the world that had evidence of human civilization, as found in (“Code of Hammurabi: Laws & Facts”.). Mesopotamia was located in modern day Iraq, between the Tigris River and Euphrates River. The first civilizations developed during the Neolithic era, as small groups. Over the course of thousands of years, with the domestication of agriculture and perseverance, these small groups of people became larger and larger, eventually becoming the first, historically recorded, civilization.
Sumerians
The first of these early civilizations, were the Sumerians. The Sumerians invented pottery, irrigation, the wheel, and cuneiform scripts. Pottery was invented in 7000 BCE to easliy transport crops back and fourth throughout the small villages of these early civilizations. Irrigation was invented when there was surplus of floods within Mesopotamia. At this point in time, the Sumerians needed a solution to this problem, leading to the invention of irrigation. The wheel, invented in 3500 BCE, which was the foundation of many revolutionary inventions over the course of history, as in (Mesopotamia- Map, Gods & Meaning). Cuneiform script, a form of ancient writing, was invented in 3500 BCE. Cuneiform script set the preset of the other early civilization forms of writing and even modern day languages such as English, this is stated in (Mesopotamia- Map, Gods & Meaning). The Sumerians reign came to conclusion after they were taken over by the Acadians.
Acadians
The Acadians ruled by Sargon the Great, ruled Mesopotamia from 2234 BCE to 2154 BCE. They adapted ziggurats from the Sumerians and expaned mesopotamia´s borders. The Acadians were taken over by very wealthy, influential people, called the Babylonians, as cited in (Mesopotamia- Map, Gods & Meaning) .
Babylonians
Babylonia's ruler was named King Hammurabi. He invented Hammurabi's Code, a set of law codes to obtain order and rule within Babylonia. Hammurabi ruled from 1792 B.C.E. to 1750 B.C.E.
