The Cyrus Cylinder is a clay canister-shaped artifact inscribed with Babylonian cuneiform. The cylinder was established in 539 BCE by the Persians. The development of the Cyrus Cylinder by the Persians help establish religious practice, and it was a symbol to unite against the common enemy (10 facts)

The Cyrus Cylinder by the Persians had a significant impact by improving cultural relations. The innovation was a source of pride for Iranians and everybody else. It made the civilization stronger by showing there are moments of reconciliation, understanding and peace. His empire was the start of new ideas, art, and traditions. It permitted people to return to their homes that they had been deported from. (Margulies). One negative problem the Cyrus Cylinder has is it was used as propaganda to justify the rules. It made people forget all the bad things Cyrus had done in his reign. (ten facts). It made day to day life easier by giving people rights they wouldn't be able to have without it. (Margulies).

It impacted the civilization by letting Jews return to Jerusalem and rebuild the Temple of Solomon, which was destroyed in 586 BCE. (Margulies). It is written to show how Cyrus abolished the Labor service of its populations (The British Museum) It was viewed as an early example of human rights and protection of religious freedom. The cylinder is more of a biased picture of Cyrus of a savior and not a conqueror.
