Persia is known for making one of the largest empires in history, the Achaemenid Empire. It was established over 2500 years ago. The empire stretched from Egypt to India and from Arabia to the Aral Sea. It was led by Cyrus the Great, until Darius took over. While under the leadership of Cyrus the Great, he captured Babylon, in 539 BCE. Babylon was one of the most influential cities that was known at that time. He also laid the foundation for a new empire (10 facts). While Darius was in leadership he realized the Persians were not functioning efficiently, and he began founding roads, canals, and other things to get fixed in Persia (Persian Empire National Geographic Society). Some inventions that occurred include the Cyrus Cylinder, Royal Road, the postal service, refrigeration, the utilization of cavalry, and the irrigation system. The development of the Cyrus Cylinder is also known as the first decoration of human rights. The Royal Road was an ancient highway reorganized and rebuilt for trade. The postal service is a network of roads used to communicate with others. The utilization of cavalry was used as a flexible multipurpose military force. Refrigeration was used to store ice and keep food cold.
