Job shadow experiences give students a chance to spend time with professionals and see what their jobs are really like. During a job shadow, you can watch how people do their work, ask questions, and learn about what skills and education are needed for that career.
These experiences are valuable because they help you understand what a typical day in that job looks like and whether it matches your interests and strengths. By seeing the career in action, you can decide if it’s something you truly want to pursue—or if you might want to explore a different pathway instead.

"I really enjoyed my job shadow experience and I learned a lot. I enjoyed the fact that I got to see her work with a lot of different students, all of different ages and situations. It was a busy morning but she made time to allow me to ask questions and learn about the job. I came into this job shadow with limited knowledge on how expansive this career is, but I left with so much information about all the different fields possible to branch off into. Overall, it was a really great experience."
"All the people there were very welcoming and helpful. Darren, who we were job shadowing with, was a very nice guy he answered any questions we had for him and made the whole trip worthwhile."
"I was surprised at just how much stuff that guy did. I was happy with the overall experience and learned a lot of the managerial stuff."
"I appreciated the hands on experience that Precision Accounting allowed me to have during my job shadow. I was able to travel to different people who had different jobs and got to learn about every single department within the small firm. Overall it was a really fun day and a great way to experience the job that I want to pursue in the future."
"We went to different job sites, and I got to see the ins and outs of how plumbing and electrical works."
"It was nice being able to learn from somebody who has great knowledge of the field they are in. It was cool seeing the day to day tasks that are completed on the job sites."
"I appreciated that they said they would bring up my idea in a meeting to their boss."
